A peaceful time on the river learning about the Albany area and wildlife. Our captain Jack was incredibly knowledgeable and interesting and a few funny stories along the way. Eagles dropped in for a fish as did osprey and just a few pelicans, a pod of dolphins to add to the enjoyment.

My husband and I give our Grandson experiences instead of presents for his birthday and so we booked a Kalgan River Cruise for his 14th birthday. The cruise was excellent not only the viewing of birds etc but the commentary was full of history and was given in a very entertaining way. Our host was extremely friendly and full of local knowledge. We were in a group of 23 people and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cuppa and damper was also enjoyable and I would highly recommend the trip to all ages.

What an amazing morning! Starting with meeting Perch the Pelican through learning about local history and geography and sea birds, our group from Auckland found it fascinating. Plus trying local oysters and strawberries and enjoying a tea/coffee with Captain Jack’s mother’s home made damper. We had a free day on our highly organised tour of WA and were lucky enough to see a brochure for the Kalgan Queen. Four hours of fun guaranteed.

A unique and wonderful experience being able to see a lot of local bird wildlife and learning about the history of Albany. Jack was an excellent guide with lots of knowledge of the area from the Aboriginal origins to the European explorers. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and produce provided. Will be recommending to family and friends when they visit the area.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Captain Jack was the perfect host, full of knowledge, wisdom and a magnet to wildlife encounters. A slow, relaxing cruise with taste test of local oysters, hot beverages and amazing home cooked dampers. Well worth the money. Will look forward to doing it again next time I visit Albany.

The whole morning was an enjoyable, informative tour of many aspects of Albany. There were close many encounters with wildlife and the host is like a walking ecological and historical encyclopaedia. Thanks to the captain's mum for the moorish damper and to the bee's who supplied the honey that we sampled on board. I look forward to bringing my family onboard next time I'm in town.

This small family business has well earned every one of its 5 stars, I have no hesitation in recommending it as by far the best river trip we’ve been on and the best way to spend a morning in Albany. Jack is funny, engaging and a mine of information about history, the river, birds but peppered with amusing and quirky anecdotes. Lovely local treats are served on board and the pelican performance sets the tone for the rest of the trip.
