We just returned from our chocolate tasting tour at Lydgate Farms. What a treat it was! We were hesitant to book it because of the cost, but after reading the reviews and how people were raving about the tour, we decided to take it. We are so glad we did. Our guide for the three hour tour was Brooke. She is passionate and so knowledgeable about everything chocolate related. And not only did the tour include facts and information about chocolate, we also received information about responsible, forming and native fruits of Hawaii. The tour started in a covered area where we were introduced to some of the basics about chocolate. We then walk a short distance where we see the cocoa plants and seeds and told more about the process. Along the way Brooke pointed out various fruits that were still hanging in the trees. One of the interesting things we saw were vanilla beans. From there, we went to another covered area where we were introduced to native fruits, and we were able to sample several different fruits. After another short walk. we went to another covered area where we did the chocolate tasting. Here we received several samples of different types of chocolates, along with more information and instructions on the chocolate processing. The entire 3hour tour was just so informative. I will never look at chocolate the same again. In the gift area we had the opportunity to purchase different chocolate products and they were put into an insulated bag so that we could get them home without melting. We found the tour to be well worth the price and we are so glad that we booked it. Just know we that there is walking and standing involved as well as sitting for the instruction portion of the presentation. Young children may not enjoy this activity, but for adults, it was a great experience and one we would do again.

This was the best chocolate farm tour I have ever taken, absolutely worth the money! We booked the first tour at 9am and we ended up with a smaller group so it felt more specialized. Mason was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We started with a brief fruit tasting and history lesson of the farm. After that we walked through the farm and saw many different plants. We saw vanilla plants and learned about that crop as well. The walk was easy and there was a cart available for those wanting help. We tried about 8 different chocolates/products, fresh tropical fruits and honey from the other part of the farm. The complete experience was about 3 hours and totally worth it.

Great Tour of their gardens and cocoa farm. Very in depth discussions of cocoa and chocolate in general. They also have a botanical garden that includes vanilla beans, peppercorns, star fruit, dragon fruit, rambutan, sugar cane, a palm tree with coconuts, and honey bees. We were able to sample most of their fruit, their chocolate, and their honey. We loved the knowledge of our guide. I highly recommend

I went with a 9 and 11 year old who both thoroughly enjoyed this tour! Our tour guide Henry was enthusiastic and so knowledgeable. He made learning fun for all ages. We loved the fruit and honey tasting element as well as the information about the different plants on the farm. I expected great chocolate and it did not disappoint but the fruit, honey and macadamian nut tasting was a bonus! I highly recommend this tour and tour guide. Thank you for caring so much about educating us on chocolate!
