Come join us on a lovely 3.6-mile roundtrip hike through an Alaska State Park into the Tongass National Forest. Enjoy a small group of up to 7 guests! First relax on the 40-minute scenic drive to the end of the road. Then hike an improved gravel trail alongside a river with glimpses of waterfalls. Walk through a magical old-growth rainforest displaying impressive specimens of Sitka spruce and western red cedar fencing in the trail.
Besides some stairs at the beginning of the hike, the trail flattens out and winds along the river valley below a ridge. 1 mile down the trail, our destination is a stone bench beside a serene bow in the river, where we can pause and enjoy one another and the peace and quiet.

Beautiful hike. Great waterfalls away from crowds. We also liked learning about the town as we drove! Chad was a great leader.

This is a moderate difficulty trail with multiple steps up and down. Very lush vegetation, babbling stream and small waterfalls along the way. Chad was very informative….a wealth of detailed info about the history, culture, and flora & fauna. We got to see forest, salmon stream, and ocean view all in less than 3 miles.

Chad our guide was amazing. He was very mindful of keeping the walking pace manageable. It was a small group of 5 which made it very personalised. Chad had great knowledge of the forest and we got a treat of peppermint tea in the forest. We were not rushed to get back into town. Would recommend him to friends.

This was a great way to explore a place that we would not have found on our own. Chad found us at the pick up point on a very rainy day and shared his knowledge and experience with us as we headed into the woods together. It was easy, relaxing, and more like visiting a with a knowledgeable friend than a guided tour. I would recommend the experience.

This was our favorite tour in Alaska! What a beautiful hike. Teagan led our family in a beautiful hike while sharing information about the forest. We had a great time despite the rain, which is very common in the area. Highly recommended tour!

Very easy hike. Guide was very informative throughout the hike. Small group of 4 with a local private tour company.

Took this excursion on our Celebrity Cruise and we weren't disappointed. Chad was SO knowledgeable...made it great! His knowledge was extensive and he paced it perfectly.

Fantastic! To accompany the unparalleled wilderness, Teague was a gem. He was personable, friendly, and attentive. Above that, though, Teague was extremely informed and knowledgeable. Of all the excursions we took on our trip -- many -- we learned the most from Teague. And that's a tall order, for generally speaking, the Alaskan guides were top rate. It was clear that this is a work of passion for Teague, who loves the area and his involvement in it. We took this tour on a day when Ketchikan had 4" of rain! That is, it was pouring. This did not detract from the experience at all, and Teague was accommodating and helpful in navigating the mudpuddles.
