Stadhuis Delft
he Stadhuis in Delft, located on Markt Square across from the Nieuwe Kerk, is a prime example of Renaissance architecture. Originally built in the 13th century, it was renovated in 1620 by architect Pietro de Swart, blending Gothic and Renaissance styles. The building features an ornate facade with towers and statues of historical figures, including William of Orange, and a large clock tower. Inside, you'll find a banquet hall and historic rooms adorned with chandeliers and paintings reflecting Delft’s rich history. Today, it houses municipal offices and hosts events and ceremonies.
New Church
The Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) in Delft was built between 1381 and 1496 in Gothic style. It stands on the Markt Square, across from the Stadhuis. The church is famous for its towering spire, which reaches 108 meters (354 feet) and offers panoramic views of Delft when you climb its 376 steps. Inside, the church contains stunning stained-glass windows, and it serves as the burial site for several members of the Dutch royal family, including William of Orange, the founder of the Dutch nation. His tomb is a significant attraction, as well as the royal monuments throughout the church.
