We are a team of 4 local guides. We are experienced and professional. We were all born, raised and still live here in Kibera (the largest slum in Africa). We have first-hand insights into the authentic daily life here in Kibera, our community. We run a social impact tour business called OAC Kenya Tours. It is a vehicle for positive change. A significant portion of our revenues go back to the community. 50% of the booking fees from this tour helps in paying school fees for needy kids here in our community. Join us in making a positive difference by booking this tour

We also run a non-profit called KCOOP Organization. It was officially established and registered in 2022. KCOOP operates here in Kibera slum and in rural parts of Kenya. All our regular updates are available on our website and social media pages. Our Instagram is; @kcoop.organization.

We are now seeking for like minded individuals, organizations or enterprises for partnership to enable us help many more needy kids.

Had a great experience with clement. We asked lots of questions and he had no problem explaining in return I could provide info about the slums (townships) in South Africa as I was the first person from South Africa they ever had on their walk. They are a part of a cooperation (Non Governmental Organisation) and try to uplift part of the community and provide meals to kids)

Our guides were great. They were very informative and helpful. When we were close to Kibera, I noticed a technical college that I had been trying to contact from home. Emmanuel and Dickens added on to our trip and made the visit there happen. We were hesitant to go on this tour because it seemed like voyeurism, but this trip is special. It is organized by the community organization, KCOOP, and half of the proceeds go to the guides, who are from Kibera, while the other half goes to KCOOP. There were other trips to Kibera listed on Viator that cost more than twice as much, but I couldn't see what the different was between the tours. If anything, this on looked better. I'm so glad that I chose this one because this one is run by a nonprofit. I think the other tours also use locals as tour guides, but I'd rather use this one and give the difference in price to the community.

This tour was truly eye‑opening and meaningful. My guide, Zack, was excellent. He was professional, knowledgeable, and very attentive throughout the experience. The tour offered valuable insight into daily life within the community, and at all times I felt safe and well‑guided. I also appreciate that booking this tour supports the KCOOP non‑profit organization, which does incredible work for the children in the community. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to learn, connect, and contribute to a positive cause.

The Kibera slum tour is excellent value and an essential trip for anyone visiting Nairobi. At the start of the journey, you meet Erick, who tells you about his KCOOP non-profit organisation, which does invaluable work in Kibera. Next, you meet your two guides who escort you for a guided tour around Kibera. We had two excellent guides in Zack and the delightful Benta. The guides are very friendly and informative, and they can answer all your questions about life in Kibera. They take you inside a local's home, and you visit an area supported by KCOOP where they feed and engage in activities with local children. The tour is very safe, and I never once felt uncomfortable in Kibera when taking photographs. Life is incredibly tough for the locals in the slum, with little in the way of services or government support. Life in Kibera is incredibly challenging, with limited services and government support. Despite this, the people are very resourceful, and there is a vitality in Kibera that gives you optimism for the future. There are two things I would advise before taking the tour: please bring some food for the children, and do not wear your best footwear. When you have completed the tour, please consider following KCOOP on social media, where you can learn about ways to support the organisation, including sponsoring a child.

See how people live or survive in this city within a city . People are very friendly. I didn't feel any danger at all. See how people access water. Local children always smiling despite their circumstance Co-op store at the end of the tour has carvings paintings prints built by local artists at reasonable prices. Stay away from the maasai market And the money goes to the community. For example, I bought a carved giraffe for five bucks in the massai market. It would cost 20 but extra donations are accepted

No, it's not voyeurism, but immersion in the true sense of the word. AOC Kenya tours through its local NGO helps improve the daily lives of Kimbera's kids. We were very late (because of a bus), and we had a hard time finding the starting point, but once done it was just perfect! The information, the walking tour, the contact with the locals, and above all the incredible Welcoming of the children. They all lived up to what our tourist carcasses could perceive. Something that we keep deep down and grow up. Thanks to AOC.......

The way Lucas has designed this tour was perfectly done. I met with his sister, Elfie, who was my tour guide for this one, at the starting point first. Then we walked through a very extended market; clothes, second hand stuff (clothes and household items), fresh food and fruits, and then those workshops for furniture refurbishment. Wonderfull walking tour to see real life of Kenyan locals in the city. We also had a stop at the community school. Students came out to welcome, made greetings, and gave hugs. Lovely day!

Visiting Kibera is hard and rewarding at the same time. You will probably meet the most resilient people on earth. Zack and his friends were so nice and welcoming. They tell you what their needs are without shame or pity, and without pressuring you to make any monetary contribution (which, at the end of the visit, you would like to do anyway). There is a sense of dignity in this tour; it is not a human safari, it is real and rough. I would advise making it with KCOOP because they are locals, not foreign NGOs - they have lived in Kibera and they know better than anyone what is required for the neighbourhood. Personally, I don't like pictures being taken of the kids - even if you are free to take pictures, remember that they are not food for your IG / Facebook content, nor do they consent to it in the first place. Overall, this experience would change one's life. I cannot but highly recommend it if you are really interested in knowing how people in Kibera live and what their concerns, ambitions, and hopes are.

An important part of any trip to Kenya so you can see all of the country and it's wonderful people. Erik knows the community very well, having been raised in Kibera and still living there. He's a great guide, full of stories and introductions to wonderful kids he helps. Highly recommended for anyone interested it a more full trip to this fantastic country and its people.
