The best-kept secret in La Paz — when wind closes the port and ocean tours pause, Mirador Balandra delivers one of the most spectacular views in Baja. Two viewpoints overlooking the turquoise complex of Balandra beaches, El Hongo, and Isla Espíritu Santo. Maximum 4 guests, local guide, transport included. The desert side of La Paz most visitors never see.

Meet at The Hook on the La Paz Malecón for a 20-minute drive north along the coast to the trailhead. Your 4.8km hike climbs 550 feet to Mirador Balandra — two viewpoints overlooking the full complex of Balandra Bay, El Hongo mushroom rock, and Isla Espíritu Santo in the distance. Moderate trail with loose rocky terrain — proper shoes required. Average 1.5 hours hiking, 3 hours total including transport. Maximum 4 guests. This is La Paz's best activity on a windy day when the port is closed. While the ocean tours pause, the desert is perfect. Your local guide covers the history, wildlife, and endemic flora and fauna of the Área de Protección de Flora y Fauna Balandra throughout the hike. Transport from the Malecón included. Year-round. Minimum 2 guests. $1,500 MXN per person.
