This tour was perfect. We were guided by the wonderful Nela, who lives in the Township and knew pretty much everyone there! We were picked up promptly from our accommodation then taken to meet Nela. We started by looking around the museum, which was eye opening and shocking. We then had a tour around the Langa Township, meeting the friendly locals and being entertained by the beautiful children. Because Nela was a local, it didn't feel like voyeurism (which had been my concern). We finished at a church service and then were collected by a driver - who also lives in the Township- to take us back to our accommodation. This really was a wonderful morning.

Ths was the second time that I had the opportunity to visit the Langa township. The first time was over 10 years ago, so I got to see the how Langa had changed and developed. I took my young children with me and it was a very informative and deeply insightful experience, as it not only shows the daily life of the people in Langa but you also learn the history of Langa and the history of SA. We were led by the wonderful guide: Loyiso who was engaging and happy to answer any qestions along the way. We went during the Easter holiday and it was a bank holiday. Some of the streets were closed, kids were playing football, there was a bouncy castle and people were drinking, celelbrating and visiting the churches. There was a lot of energy in the streets. I must mention that the tour started of at the cultural centre in langua where we were given a lesson in traditional drumming, which was great start. On the tour also, we had the opportunity to visit a children's home and a shop selling arts and crafts that are made by the local people. Overall very highly recommended!

We were a little apprehensive about what the tour would be like and if we'd feel safe or awkward. However, we decided to do it on the strength of the positive reviews and can report they are correct. Buntu was our wonderful guide and he structured the tour beautifully, starting with history and context and some 'getting to know you', then guiding us through different parts of the Township, meeting different people and businesses on the way but this tour is not about selling you things - it's much more human than that. If you are at all interested in getting a fuller understanding of South Africa and Cape Town in particular on your trip, I would definitely recommend it.

I had an incredibly positive and eye-opening experience visiting Langa Township during my stay in Cape Town. I booked a guided tour and was picked up directly from my hotel by my guide, Smiley, who was born and raised in Langa. From the very beginning, it felt authentic and personal. We started with a professionally presented historical introduction in an original building, which gave important context about Langa’s past and development. From there, we walked through the neighborhood, meeting local residents, sharing coffee and tea, and really getting a sense of daily life. One highlight was visiting a local art gallery, where we saw impressive works from talented artists. We explored different neighbourhoods of the township and also spent time at a wonderful community center before Smiley drove me safely back to my hotel. This experience gave me a genuine insight that shouldn’t be missed when visiting Cape Town. Langa is just as much a part of the city as the downtown area. I truly wish the people there all the best in growing their businesses. I highly recommend taking this tour—spend an afternoon there, support the local community, enjoy great food and drinks, and discover unique art and souvenirs. Just do it—you won’t regret it.
