Not many people imagine Texas to have beautiful beaches, much less waves to surf! This activity is unique because it allows travelers to learn how to surf in Texas, where the waves are warm, mellow, and great for beginners.

Learn to surf is a life-changing experience! You will see and feel the ocean like you have never before.

What To Expect

Experience the ocean like never before! We'll start our lesson on the shore, where I'll go over basic ocean safety information. We'll then practice some techniques such as popping up and balancing before making our way to the water. Once in the ocean we'll start our lesson in waist-high water, where you can feel comfortable learning to paddle into waves and standing up. We'll do this for about an hour, resting whenever you might need a break. If you have some surfing experience before this lesson, we may also paddle out to deeper water, where we will work on riding down the line and turning the board.

My boyfriend and I wanted to try to learn how to surf. The guy who was teaching us was amazing he was patient and helpful. My boyfriend picked up the skill fast and he had so much fun. I struggled with standing up on the board but I had so much fun. 10/10 recommend adding this to your trip

Ryan was our instructor and was incredibly attentive and informative. He made learning how to surf fun and less daunting. My daughter (8) and myself (38) had our first lesson and were riding waves within the hour. He was accommodating and patient. He even went so far as to get a beach chair for my mom who simply came to watch. Would highly recommend for all ages looking to have fun and ride the waves, dude!! Great time!

I can’t for the life of me remember the instructors name, but he was very knowledgeable, gentle and kind with kids. He told us when to wait on a good wave, what to watch out for when getting started, and also got some photos and videos of us during the lesson. Cannot thank him enough for the lesson and making it fun for everyone.

I took my grandson and his best friend to Padre for his 17th birthday. The boys took surfing lessons from 77 Surf & Skate. The instructor was awesome, and my boys had a great time!
