My husband and I accidentally had a private class since no one else booked that day, and it was so much fun! We learned so much about different ingredients that are in season and the history of why certain ingredients were used in the market tour. During the cooking class experience, Junghee helped us take photos and walked us through every single dish. Even teaching us Korean phrases that would be helpful during our stay. I'd highly recommend this class and hope to go back again, to learn different dishes next time.

What a brilliant way to learn about Korean food! The meeting point was close to Mangwon market, so we all got to try various Korean snacks and learn about the ingredients. After about an hour we went on to Sarah's house for the class. She was an amazing host...full of energy and wit...you are sure to leave feeling happy. The cooking was easy to follow and a lot of fun...and the food was delicious...I never knew Korean food was this easy! Highly recommended

Having been to cooking classes before, this was a cut above the rest. Sarah really knew her audience and catered perfectly to tourists. We chose the market tour and Sarah walked us through the whole market. Explaining each of the foods, their growing, storing and cooking seasons as well as buying us a few treats along the way to try. I have a few dietary restrictions (can’t eat pork or shellfish) and Sarah was more than accomodating. I didn’t go without and there was delicious alternatives for everything. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for an authentic market not flooded with tourists. Super cheap prices and want to learn delicious recipes easily replicated at home in most countries. We’re from Australia and will easily add all these dishes to our repertoire. Sarah’s English’s was fantastic, she’s funny, very relatable, warm and welcoming.

It was such a fun experience with a very informative tour of the market, all of the steps of cooking were clearly communicated and the dishes came out beautifully. The location was spacious and warm, a nice change from the cold. The final spread was completely packed and delicious, it was a good amount a few people had too much.

Absolutely delightful -- fun, informative, an overall great experience! I did this with my 3 kids -- ages 16, 18, and 28 -- and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. Walking through the market with Sarah as our guide, stopping every few feet to explain things to us, was very interesting. She was a wonderful teacher and hostess, and it was fun to do this activity with other travelers from all around the world! Sarah (her "English" name) also taught us a few helpful Korean phrases along the way, including how to ask for items in the markets and restaurants. Other than the VERY cold weather the day we went, it was overall a fantastic experience! You will make a Korean savory pancake, bibimbap with all the sides, and a chicken dish. She makes a soup for everyone. One NOTE: We cook and eat in her home, which is in a 5th floor walk-up apartment with no elevator. I have some back and hip issues, but I made it up fine. If walking up several flights of steps is a real challenge for you, you might consider a different activity or cooking class, because there is no getting around 5 flights of steps here.

Sarah was great as a host for a cooking class/market tour. She was dynamic, friendly, and knowledgeable. We had a class of 8 and had a good mix of ages and nationalities. Only thing we'd note is that the market can get crowded on the weekend and so it might be better to book a weekday experience instead. Food cooking and eating experience was fun and the hardest bits of prep were already done, and the dishes made felt repeatable at home which was nice.

Excellent experience! Our host and assistant were energetic and engaged with the class. I suggest you book this experience at the beginning of your visit to Korea, because they teach useful Korean phrases and insight on delicious foods to try. When you exit the train station, stop right there on the sidewalk. As the class all arrives and groups up, the host will meet you there. The first stop is a fresh marketplace. The host gives a tour of some of the ingredients to be used that day and buys a sample goodie for the class to taste. During the walk, the host and assistant initiated conversation with the individual students, which was pleasant. You are actually going to her lovely home. Be prepared to take off your shoes in her house. The cooking is fun and lively. The meal is hearty and satisfying. The experience allowed us to meet people from all over the world. The host was kind and generous. It was wonderful!
