It soon became a West End smash-hit winning the Evening Standard Award for Best Play, followed by a triumphant Tony Award-winning Broadway transfer. In 1993 the play was adapted into a major feature film directed by Richard Attenborough and starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger, which subsequently won the BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film.

5.00This is a play not a musical, so it is very much for adults. If you have seen the movie with Anthony Hopkins, you will not be disappointed. The opening monologue is one of the best sermons I heard in a long time. Hugh Bonneville makes a good CS Lewis and his co-star is very good as well. The staff went above and beyond in accommodating a special request we made during intermission, or interval as they say here in England.
