Welcome to Manaus, the main gateway to the Amazon rainforest and a city located in the middle of the jungle with an amazing and interesting history. In this half-day tour, you will see and learn about the rubber boom time, one of the most important economic cycles of the Amazon, and also visit some treasures left from that rich period when Manaus used to be called the Little Paris of the Tropics. In this, you will be led by an experienced and knowledgeable tour guide. Tour available in the morning and afternoon. On Mondays will be only sightseeing tours.

What To Expect
Teatro Amazonas
Located in the heart of Manaus, the Teatro Amazonas is a stunning Belle Époque opera house that was inaugurated in 1896, during the height of the rubber boom. Its dome, covered in 36,000 ceramic tiles painted in the colors of Brazil’s flag, crowns a building filled with European elegance from Murano chandeliers to jacaranda wood floors. Adolpho Lisboa Municipal Market
Nestled along the Rio Negro in Manaus’s historic center, the Adolpho Lisboa Market is a stunning example of Art Nouveau architecture, inaugurated in 1883 during the rubber boom. Designed with iron structures imported from Europe—some attributed to Gustave Eiffel—it offers a vibrant mix of Amazonian culture, flavors, and craftsmanship. 4.00Manaus is a city that is quite hot, but it has great places to know the tasty cuisine. I didn't have much time, but I liked seeing the theater, the mirante. On the tip of Negra lack options of good restaurants to leave the place more attractive to tourism.

3.00We booked a 4-hour tour, with tickets to the theatre and the museum of the Amazon. The tour ended in less than 2 and a half hours and the guide said it would not take us to the museum because this was not planned on the tour. Anyway, we paid far more than we were provided!

5.00Great tour! He was informative and really made sure we saw as much as possible in the time we had. Rodolpho knew the history and really showed us the best of his city. At the market he showed us many things we found interesting and was generally just so aware of what we wanted to see. It was just a delightful tour.

5.00First: everything ran smoothly from initial booking to actually meeting up at the cruise terminal. Rodolpho had a very comfortable vehicle in excellent condition (good AC, too!) The tour had a generic itinerary on the website and first order of business was to discuss a plan based on our physical capacities and interests. His 25 years as a professional guide showed as he readily formed a new plan. Roldolfo remains deeply knowledgeable and passionate about his city, state, and country --never sounding bored or jaded as he shared information he's done hundreds of times before. When we showed extra interest in a particular aspect of life in Manaus, he readily adapted to go out of the main areas so we could learn more. Conversation flowed freely about many topics as he drove us around with great skill and calmness. He was always checking to make sure we were comfortable, did drop offs/pick ups with as little walking for us as possible, etc. Rodolfo was a wonderful, effective host/guide. You will have a great day in Manaus with him at your side no matter what you choose to see.

5.00Rudolpho is an exceptional guide who clearly loves his city. He is very knowledgeable about the history and current place of Manaus in Brazil and the wider world context. He was prompt, his car is new and comfortable, and he tailored the tour to our interests. He also suggested further exploration on our own near our hotel and we really enjoyed that as well. If you are cruising the Amazon and Manaus is your embarkation or debarkation city please add a day or 2 to your trip to explore this vibrant place with warm people. If you want a familiar English speaker for your departure he also does airport transfers. Highly recommend!

4.00The cruise ship arranged an 8 hrs private tour with English speaking guide and driver. Meet at the gang plank with car right there. Covered the opera house etc. When line ups, guide took us right in. A home of a rubber baron. After the essentials he took us to lunch which for the 4 of us cost $175 at a buffet style restaurant. Then he asked us to tell the next stop. No plan on his part. Next botanical garden. Then north to the beach & expensive condo neighborhood. Over the bridge to no-where [it's name]. Industrial part of town. Local supermarket, I like to see the local diet. On the way back we stopped in the square commemorating the rubber tree. A little long but it gave us more than a lick of manaus. Worth it.

5.00We recently spent two days (an overnight on board cruise ship) in Manaus, the furthest western most port on our Amazon River cruise. Day 1 we booked ourselves a "doBrazilRight" 7 hours 5 agenda boat tour that took us 30-35 miles further west than cruise ships can travel. The guide was terrific throughout the day. Here's what we did: we went to two places and were taught why the "Meeting of the Waters" do not mix. We went to a floating Restaurant Selva Anazõnica on Lago do January (beverage and buffet line lunch included in the price) [souvenirs here quite expensive]. We then walked a raised wooden walkway through the jungle to view the Victoria Amazonica Water Lilies. (Truth be told, there were but 50+- lilies most of which were 4-6' diameter. We then went to Boto Jacaré Ubal Turismo for up close and / or hands on with 3, maybe 4 Pink Dolphins. They come freely from the open water when the tour boat ties up and folks get in the water. After that we went to the opposite shore to visit an Indigenous tribe of about 100 who welcomed us in their huge chickee building with music and dance. Day 2 we took a Holland American Cruise bus tour of the Mercantile building...here you have a WIDE selection of souvenirs. We then took a city bus tour which included a lengthy visit into the Teatro Amazonia, the 19th century Opera House built by the rubber barons. We were very lucky that during our visit the philharmonic orchestra (strings only) were in full rehearsal mode.
