A great trip from start to finish. Mike was welcoming, knowledgeable and entertaining. He went out of his way to be flexible and customise the experience to meet our interests and expectations. I would recommend this to new or returning visitors.

The Biggest Disappointment: That we only had Mike for four and a half hours instead of a full eight. If you’re looking for a tour that stays strictly within the lines (and the scheduled time), Mike might be too good for you. What started as a three-hour booking quickly evolved into a masterclass on Manchester because Mike simply has too much insight to be contained by a stopwatch. The "Deep Cuts" Experience I initially booked the slot, but I reached out with a specific "must-see" list: Salford Lads Club (essential for any Smiths devotee or Graham Nash historian) and the iconic Epping Walk Bridge. Not only did Mike accommodate us, but he read the room perfectly. Sensing our love for 80’s and 90’s music, he treated us to a "Greatest Hits" tour of the city’s sonic history, including: • Castlefield Congregational Chapel: The hallowed ground where Rick Astley "Rickrolled" the world into existence with recorded “Never Gonna Give You Up”. • The Boardwalk & The Hacienda: Standing on the spots where Oasis debuted and New Order made history (even if we’re still questioning why James got the commemorative plaque instead of... well, anyone else). • India House: Seeing where Noel Gallagher and Ian Brown lived—proof that Manchester’s talent density per square foot is statistically improbable. • Factory Studios: We swung by the now-closed site of Factory Records’ headquarters. It’s a bit quieter now than in the days of Tony Wilson and the Happy Mondays, but you can still feel the "creative chaos" in the air. Beyond the Music Mike isn’t just a music buff; he’s a walking encyclopedia of the city's DNA. He effortlessly wove together the history of the Free Trade Hall (including the legendary Sex Pistols and Bob Dylan gigs) with the industrial grit of the Bridgewater Canal and the Manchester Ship Canal. Learning about the "Social Caste" system of the Victorian railway while outside the Liverpool Street Station through the size of their doorways was a highlight—though I’m glad Mike’s Black Cab doesn't require me to measure my status before I hop in. The Heart of the City The standout moment was Epping Walk Bridge. Mike’s storytelling regarding his early job as a “Gas Man" and the social history of the Hulme Crescents added a layer of depth you simply won't find in a guidebook. As a Manchester local who lived through the "Madchester" era, his perspectives aren't researched; they’re remembered. The Verdict: If you find yourself in Manchester, book Mike. Just make sure you leave your schedule open, because once he starts sharing the city's secrets, you won't want him to stop. We’re already planning our return trip just to get back in that cab.

Mike's tour is fantastic. My wife, our teenage son and I were massively entertained by our 3 hours with him. He graciously accommodated our love of the Smiths and our interest in football while also revealing Manchesters great character and history. Fullest recommendation to hire him on. Thanks Mike!

An unforgettable experience and the best way to see all Manchester has to offer! The "soon to be famous" Mike was so much fun and the best tour guide we could have asked for. He showed us all the famous landmarks of Manchester and introduced us to some hidden gems that only a true Manc would know. If you're thinking of a tour of the city, we HIGHLY recommend Miles with Mike! Even our teenagers had a blast!

“The Miles with Mike, soon to be famous” tour of Manchester did not disappoint today. Mike was very informative, stopping at several landmarks and taking souvenir photographs. I have found a new fondness of Manchester and its rich history. Mikes cheery demeanour is exactly as comes across on social media. Could have spent all day chatting but length of trip and value for money was incredible. 100% book because you will not be disappointed!

My two best friends treated me to a Miles with Mike black cab tour of Manchester for my 70th birthday, and it was such a special experience. They’d briefed Mike beforehand on the places I’d lived and worked around Manchester, and he managed to weave them all into the tour, along with some fascinating historical stops of his own. I had the best time. Mike kept us entertained and laughing throughout, and I like to think I even managed to add a few extra historical facts about our great city myself — although I completely forgot to mention “Heart Attack Hill” 😂. From start to finish, the whole trip was brilliant. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone, whether you’re visiting Manchester for the first time or have lived here all your life. It also makes a wonderfully different and thoughtful gift for someone special. I’m already looking forward to coming back and doing Mike’s full tour next time — without my personal detours! If you’re considering a Manchester tour, book this — you won’t regret it.
