If this tour had gone to plan it would be 5 stars. However, we found out on the tour that the main meal restaurant was closed and there was no alternative. The tour does cost a bit, and we do feel upset that we paid for 3-4 dishes, that we did not get and were left hungry at the end. Especially as we had had shared portions for most of the tour, to pace ourselves, as we were told to expect a lot of food. The tour company should really have an alternative restaurant available for situations like this. Otherwise, the tour was good. The host Nel was excellent, very enthusiastic and welcoming. The food options to taste were exciting - you will definitely try things you have not eaten or not comfortable to order yourself. You get to ride a range of transports - like a three wheeler and jeepney. The host did try to make up for missing the main meal with a Halo Halo however we were really wanting more savory foods.

This is a tour that offers an insight on the life in a not so touristy part of Manila, where the residents eat, drink, play pool, and sing karaoke. Nel, our guide, was there to explain everything, not just about the food, but also about the lives of the locals who eat it every day. What we sampled was not the “gritty” street food that you might find in Divisoria. But still, a few of the items we tried were rather interesting, although not entirely unexpected. Whether you are an adventurous rather like myself, or would rather stick with food items where you wouldn’t expect any surprises, Nel made sure that all of our questions were answered and that we were happy with what we ate. She also helped us navigate the neighborhood, so we rode a jeepney and a motorbike with a sidecar. We started and ended the tour at the same location which made it relatively easy to get a car to get back to the hotel after the tour.

Nellie & Chloe were the best tour guides. They were so informative about the culture and the history and really gave us a great taste of the Philippines. We also had lovely local experiences by riding the tricycle and the jitney which are completely unforgettable. We even made it to a local bar to try the local beer.

Trying new foods. Walking and using local transport . Don’t eat before you start the tour as there is plenty of varied food to eat

Excellent food tour with many different local street foods. Our guides took us on the local means of transportation which are very unique, tricycle & Jeeping. Short rides, but a unique experience. We had many sweet tasting appetizers as well.
