This was an amazing experience. Charles Joseph was a fantastic guide. He and a driver took me to a village in Chagga lands where I got to see first hand how arabica coffee was grown. Songs were sung as we roasted and ground the coffee beans, and the brew itself was delicious. Afterward Charles led me to the Materuni waterfall, which was stunning and a refreshing place to rest after a comfortable hike. Then we returned to the farm for a delicious buffet lunch.

Materuni Village is a perfect day trip if you want nature, culture, and a bit of adventure all in one go. The walk to Materuni Waterfall is lush and refreshing, with banana trees and local farms lining the path, and the waterfall itself is stunning and worth every step. The Chagga coffee experience is a real highlight—hands-on, fun, and surprisingly delicious, especially when you get to roast and brew the coffee yourself. The village feels welcoming and authentic, and the views of Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear day are the cherry on top. A relaxed, memorable experience that gives you a genuine taste of local life near Moshi.

We did the Materuni Waterfall hike and coffee experience as a group of friends, and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. The hike itself was beautiful and not too difficult—just the right mix of adventure and scenery. Walking through the village and lush greenery gave us a real feel for local life, and our guide was knowledgeable, patient, and fun, which made the whole experience even better. When we finally reached Materuni Waterfall, it was absolutely worth it. The waterfall is powerful and stunning, and the cool mist was refreshing after the hike. We spent time taking photos, relaxing, and just enjoying the moment together as a group. The coffee experience afterward was a perfect addition. Learning how coffee is made from bean to cup was fascinating, and doing it the traditional way with singing, laughter, and lots of interaction made it unforgettable. The coffee was fresh, strong, and delicious. Overall, this experience was a great mix of nature, culture, and fun. Highly recommended for groups or friends looking for an authentic and memorable adventure near Moshi.

Our visit to Materuni Waterfalls, combined with the coffee tour and hot lunch, was one of the highlights of our trip. From start to finish, the experience was authentic, relaxing, and incredibly well organized made even better by our guide, John. The walk to Materuni Waterfalls was scenic and refreshing, passing through beautiful greenery and local villages. When we reached the waterfall, the view was breathtaking. The cool mist, powerful flow of water, and peaceful surroundings made it the perfect place to relax and take photos. The coffee tour was both fun and educational. We learned the entire process of making coffee from the bean to the cup and even got to participate in roasting and grinding the beans ourselves. The freshly brewed coffee tasted amazing and made the experience feel truly local. The hot lunch was delicious and satisfying, with generous portions and traditional flavors that gave us a real taste of the area. Everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. John was an excellent guide friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the day. He explained everything clearly, answered all our questions, and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves at every step. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. It’s a perfect mix of nature, culture, and great food, and with a guide like John, it becomes an unforgettable experience.
