Scenic Village Walk & Waterfall Hike Your adventure starts with a short drive from Moshi to Materuni, a picturesque Chagga village. You'll take a guided hike through green farmland, coffee and banana plantations, and learn about local life. After about 45 minutes of easy walking, you’ll reach the stunning Materuni Waterfall — one of the tallest in the area. You can take photos, enjoy the lush surroundings, or even take a refreshing swim in the natural pool. Chagga Coffee Tour & Local Lunch After the waterfall, head back to the village for an interactive coffee experience. You’ll meet local farmers and learn how they grow and process Arabica coffee by hand — from picking, roasting, grinding, to brewing. You’ll even get to help make it and enjoy a fresh cup, all while singing traditional songs! A delicious local lunch may also be included, giving you a true taste of Chagga culture. I will be telling people about this tour. It was quite an experience, first surviving the ride to the trailhead on rutted dirt roads, then hiking into the falls on trails still wet from the first rain of the season, but also learning about the plants and agriculture along the way and finally seeing great views and the spectacular falls. But the best part of the day was the coffee experience. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and you will have one of the best cups of coffee that you will ever have.

We had a wonderful day trip to Materuni Waterfalls and the coffee tour with my family, and it was an unforgettable experience. The hike to the waterfall was beautiful, surrounded by lush nature, and the waterfall itself was absolutely stunning. The coffee tour was fun and educational we loved learning about the process and tasting fresh local coffee. Our guide Charles was fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive to our family. He made the whole day relaxing and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.

Our guide Charles and the driver picked us up right on time. Took 45 mins to get to the trail over very bumpy roads but our driver was so considerate and took his time navigating the bumps which we really appreciated. The hike was an easy 2km one-way but very muddy which we expected so didn’t take away from the experience. The falls was beautiful. After we returned we went to learn about coffee and got to participate in each process while surrounded by singing and dancing. It was so fun. Coffee was delicious. We made sure to grab a bag to take home. Coffee party was followed by lunch which was amazing. We told Charles ahead of time that we were vegetarian but not to go out of the way as we can eat fruit and be fine. The meal was incredibly tasty we enjoyed Banana soup, brown and white rice, an incredible bean dish, sautéed greens, fresh avocado( literally from the tree near us)and watermelon for dessert. What stood out was how thoughtful that no one else ate meat to be respectful of us which was totally unnecessary and we insisted they eat what they wanted but they stuck to a vegetarian meal which was very thoughtful. On our way out I fell asleep to the rocking of the car ( I guess I was pretty tired). About a 1/2 hour of being dropped off I realized I lost my cell phone, it fell out of my pocket while I was napping. Well Charles got on a motorcycle and made his way back to me within the hour. I was so grateful. Thank you everyone for a great day. Charles you are the best.
