The tour will begin by visiting the majestic Tule Tree, an ahuehuete that is more than 2000 years old.
From Tuesday to Sunday don´t miss Mitla, a town and municipal seat in the state of Oaxaca, famous for being the site of the archaeological ruins of Mitla.
Continue to Hierve el agua, it is in the heart of a steep mountain range that during the dry season is characterized by its extreme aridity. Natural beauty is not the only attraction of this site.

On the route, a stop of 1 hour will be made in a mezcal distillery to learn about the process of its elaboration in an artisanal way and we will have a tasting of this famous Oaxacan drink
Suitable for all physical fitness levels
You will spend around 1 hour in Hierve el agua and 1 hour 20 min for meals

Santa Maria del Tule
Its approximate age is 2000 years. Over the centuries, its branches and bark have created whimsical shapes in which, with a little imagination, the profiles of people, animals, and even fantastic beings can be seen in the texture of its bark.
Zona Arqueologica de Mitla
It comes from the Nahuatl word that means "place of the dead". Its palaces are decorated with very fine geometric figures such as the stepped fretwork. Only available from Wednesday to Sunday Please note time on site may vary due to pandemic.

Is offered as an English excursion. We were picked up by Jorge on time and then it was silence until El Tule. There Flor spoke and we got a very good explanation entirely in English, also the subsequent visit to the weaving mill and Mitla, where Flor gave very enthusiastic explanations both in Spanish and English. There was nothing to complain about here. Mitla is very basic as an archaeological site, but was ok. And then Flor suddenly said goodbye and the English-speaking accompaniment was finished. All the rest was done in Spanish and we were lucky that some of the Spanish speaking tourists were kind enough to translate into English. Hierve El Agua was at least more than worth it. Definitely recommended. Then there was a Mezcal company, which was also interesting, especially if you like that stuff. During the drive back there was therefore the necessary ambiance in the shack, partly thanks to the very loud music. Suddenly we were dumped somewhere in the center of Oaxaca with the announcement that this was the end of the drive and that we had to figure out our own way back to our hotel (long live Google maps). In short the trip was ok, but the guidance dropped some serious stitches.

I would give more stars were it not for the fact that we were dropped off 6km from our hotel and told to find our own way back. This was in spite of me having proof that drop off and pick up points were the same. The tour guide refused to honour the agreement made with Viator.

Out visit to Mitla et al was mixed. The locations were beautiful and interesting. However our driver was terrifying and our guide (Angel) egotistical and arrogant. I cannot recommend this tour although the locations are worth visiting.

By booking through Viator,I paid more than twice as much as anyone else AND they put me on a different trip for some reason. They did arrange for someone to drive me home before seeing site I’d already seen. You can purchase what you want from person in Oaxaca selling tours. I will not use Viator again.

Horrible experience, I would not recommend this tour. It all started when we had to go to lunch at a buffet restaurant. The food was not the best and the desserts tasted old and flavorless. The owner apparently was offended because my kids tried the desserts and did not eat it all. The owner told my husband “I don’t know how it’s in the United States but here we don’t waste food”. We then told the tour lady about what had happened. She basically brushed it off and told us not to think about it. We did not want to offend anyone but I was offended and it ruined my tour. If you like to be treated like you don’t matter then go ahead and go on this tour. I’ll I ask is for us to be treated with respect, I’m not asking for much.

The tour was booked in English, but the group eventually consisted of Spanish and English speaking participants. Of course, this is not a problem at first, but you quickly realized that both groups had a completely different experience. While the "Spanish" group received all available information at the different stations, in my estimation less than half of this information was passed on to the "English" group. I would therefore not recommend the tour - at least for non-Spanish speaking tourists.
