Discover 13 centuries of history with our experienced guides. On the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1979, Mont-Saint-Michel is an incredible master-piece of architecture surrounded by the beautiful seascape of one of the largest bays in Europe.
Your guide will first present you the village on the island, where shops and restaurants have existed for 1000 years.
Then you will climb to the top of the rock where you will visit the different rooms of the abbey and you will have the chance to understand what was the life of a monk in the "City of Books", through different wars over centuries. Also, your guide will explain to you the slow construction of the abbey, from its pre-romanesque times to the French revolution, and the use of the different rooms of the abbey.

Mont-Saint-Michel
We will first drive 1h30 to Mont-Saint-Michel. Mont Saint Michel is the most visited site in Normandy and one of the most visited sites in France. The first construction on the rock was built in 708. A few decades later, it became a major pilgrimage site for all Christians in the world. Thanks to the work of the religious community on the Mont, the site was seen as an intellectual reference in Europe where thousands of books, manuscripts and charters were written. In the 19th century, the importance of Mont Saint Michel was in decline and it became a prison after the French Revolution in 1789. From 1793 until 1863, the site had the worst reputation and was nicknamed the Bastille of the seas… The building suffered from the lack of maintenance during that time and almost disappeared after the French stopped using it as a prison. Fortunately, it was saved from destruction and many architects renovated it from then until present day. After the visit, we will drive back to Bayeux 1h30 .

We had a wonderful tour of Mont St Michel with Michael from HQ Company tours. He picked us up in Bayeux, drove us in a comfortable minivan to Mont St Michel and dropped us back in Bayeux. The tour was 8 hours in total. Mickael was a well informed, engaging and polite tour guide who gave us a great tour of Mont St Michel. I would recommend this tour highly and especially, Mickael.

Very informative guide. Took approximately 3 hours from start to finish. Beautiful views, and we were fortunate the crowds were moderate.

Mont St Michel is an amazing place to visit. Our guide Karen shared a lot of great historical info with us about the abbey. There are many stairs but the tour was paced well so all could participate.

Yannick is a highly knowledgable and entertaining guide who caters to his clients. Yannick provided us detailed information about Mont Saint Michel, including its geographical setting, construction, different uses and significance to the region. The tour went off smoothly, as Yannick had all of our tickets and recommendations for lunch in the vlllage. The ride to and from Bayeux did not seem like 90 minutes, as Yannick kept us entertained with information and stories about the Abbey and some of the D-Day beaches and Battle of Normandy, and the van was comfortable and water provided. Highly recommend this tour with HQ Company and highly recommend Yannick as a tour guide.

Corrine was our guide. She was great. Very encouraging to the group because those steps could be intimidating! Thankfully the steps aren't done in a single run!! The monument speaks to the ingenuity of humans. Several times during the day we asked WHY and HOW. According to history it's a story of faith and obedience. WOW. Corrine also took the time to point out places to eat - listen to her! Letting someone else drive allows you to study the French countryside, not be worried about meeting your tour or being exhausted during the return trip. Take the trip with Corrine. I just wish she could have turned off the rain while we climbed. 🙂

Corrin (I hope I have her name correct) was excellent. She gave us an excellent tour to Mont St. Michel starting in Bayeux. She was so knowledgeable and patient with our small group of 8. I would highly recommend this tour. It’s a long day but very worth it! Leave by 8:00 and back by 16:00.

Our guide, Gwen was fantastic. I learned a lot about the architecture of Mont St Michel. I learned a lot about its history as well. He was very attentive to any questions that were asked. It made for a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Awesome tour with Gwen (and intern Louis). The tour of Mont Saint Michel was so much more than expected. The insight and information about the abbey and lifecycle surrounding the abbey made the tour take life. The experience is much more than what can be seen now, the true value is the history behind how we got here.

It was a wonderful day. The ride to Mont-Michel was pleasant and I learned a lot from our tour guide. It turned out that my daughter and I were the only ones on the tour so it was very personalized.
