Nangma Valley Kanday
The real adventure begins as we lace up our boots for the 4–5 hour trek from Kanday Village to the alpine pastures of Mingulo Broq. This is a steady, rewarding ascent that transitions from village life to the raw beauty of the Karakoram. The Ascent The trail climbs away from the stone houses of Kanday, winding through terraced fields of barley and apricot trees. As we gain altitude, the path becomes more rugged, following a glacial stream that provides a refreshing soundtrack to our hike. ️ Reaching the Broq Mingulo Broq is a stunning summer pasture used by local shepherds. The Landscape: Expect lush green grass contrasted against the stark, towering granite walls that start to close in. First Sights: You’ll get your first intimate looks at the jagged needles that make this region famous. We’ll set up camp in these high meadows, surrounded by grazing yaks and wildflowers. It’s the perfect introduction to the wild, serene heart of the Nangma Valley!

The 3–4 hour trek from Mingulo Broq to Nangma Valley is a breathtaking journey deeper into a landscape often called the "Yosemite of the Karakoram." As we move through the valley, the scenery shifts from alpine meadows to a dramatic theater of vertical stone. ️ Entering Nangma Valley The trail opens up into a stunning, lush basin surrounded by some of the most impressive granite monoliths on Earth. The contrast between the soft green valley floor and the harsh, jagged peaks is nothing short of cinematic. The Mighty Amin Brakk Our ultimate goal is the base of Amin Brakk. This is a legendary name in the world of big-wall climbing. The Wall: Amin Brakk is a colossal, sheer granite tower that dominates the skyline. It’s a "hard and mighty" rock, rising nearly 1,200m in a near-vertical sweep. The Experience: Standing at the base, you truly feel the scale of the Karakoram. We’ll set up camp in the shadow of this giant, surrounded by pure wilderness.
Relax in Nangma Valley. Soak in the views of granite spires, explore the meadows, and recharge amidst mountain serenity.

Nangma Valley Kanday
The excursion to the K6 Base Camp is a short but spectacular 2-hour round-trip trek that brings you face-to-face with one of the most elegant giants of the Karakoram. ️ The Majesty of K6 At 7,282 meters, K6 (also known as Baltistan Peak) is a massive, ice-clad pyramid that dominates the head of the valley. Unlike the vertical granite walls of Amin Brakk, K6 is a world of shimmering glaciers and steep snow slopes. The trek to its base provides a front-row seat to the raw power of the high mountains. The Journey & Return The Path: The trail is relatively gentle as it winds through the upper reaches of the Nangma Valley, crossing glacial moraines and alpine streams. The View: From the base, you can witness the scale of the hanging glaciers and hear the distant thunder of ice. Back to Nangma: After soaking in the views, we descend back to the lush, green meadows of Nangma Valley for a restful afternoon and a final night under the spires.

Golden Hour: Film the sun hitting the 1,200m vertical face of Amin Brakk or the icy crown of K6. Details: Capture the contrast of delicate alpine wildflowers against the brutal, hard rock. Pure Nature Spend your time wandering the lush meadows, following the winding glacial streams. Listen to the "music" of the mountains—the roar of the river and the distant thunder of ice. The Descent to Kanday The trek from the high meadows of Nangma back down to Kanday Village takes about 3–4 hours. Going downhill allows you to appreciate the changing vegetation and the scale of the valley from a new perspective. As the granite spires recede behind you, the terraced fields and stone architecture of Kanday reappear, offering a warm welcome back to village life. The Drive to Skardu After a final farewell to our local porters, we board our jeeps for the drive back to Skardu. The Route: The road winds alongside the turquoise waters of the Shyok and Indus Rivers. The Landscape: You’ll pass through small settlements and over suspension bridges, watching the rugged Karakoram terrain soften as you approach the city. Arriving in Skardu, you can enjoy a hot shower and a celebratory meal, reflecting on the "mighty rocks" and memories of Nangma.

The team of SETT ( Skardu Expedition Treks and Tours ) was excellent. I went to them with a business trip in 2025. The team was already prepared and everything was ok. The guide was well aware of the location and visited the top spot. We visited Khaplu, Nangma and Skardu in this single trip. I highly recommend them for solo, business, family or any other type of trip .
