As soon as we pass through the shopping arcade, we will visit Kofuku-ji temple where we can see the beautiful 5 stories pagoda. After taking some good photos, we will be heading to Todai-ji temple. The huge Great Buddha statue await you in the back. Our local guide will explain some histories and interesting facts about Japanese Buddhism and temples!
After seeing the Great Buddha statue, we will enjoy viewing Nara on the Nigetsu-do temple!
On the top of Todai-ji temple, there is Nigetsu-do temple where we can enjoy the great view of Nara. After that, we will visit some traditional souvenir shops and walk toward Kasuga shrine!

The itinerary for this tour includes some locations that are not accessible by a wheelchair or stroller.
All ages are welcome on this tour. Although we walk with a few short breaks, please let us know in advance if any group members have health concerns.
You do not need to cover the guide’s food and drinks. Please bring cash if you would like to purchase additional snacks or drinks.
We are unable to accommodate gluten-free requests for this tour.

Summer in Japan is very hot and humid, so we recommend that you bring water and wear a hat to prevent heat stroke.
For any dietary request, please request in advance (by the day before). We are unable to accept any request on the day of the tour.
Japan’s climate has become more extreme, with summer temperatures reaching up to 40°C (110°F) and winter lows dropping to -5°C (20°F). Please prepare accordingly for the tour.

What To Expect
Kofuku-ji Temple 5 Stories Pagoda
We will be the iconic Kofuku-ji Temple, renowned for its stunning five-story pagoda. This ornately carved pagoda was built by the Fujiwara clan in 730. Today it is an iconic historical landmark of Nara.
Todai-ji Temple
Explore Todaiji Temple Main Hall and Nandaimon. As you approach, you will be greeted by two imposing guardian statues called Kongorikishi. Beyond them is the Great Buddha, a sight that never ceases to fascinate visitors. During this tour, your local guide will share fascinating stories and interesting insights into Japanese Buddhism and the significance of historical temples!

5.00I had the best time on this Nara half-day walking tour! Eri was incredibly kind, patient, and so knowledgeable about the history of the area. She made everything easy to understand and added so many interesting details. Plus, she took amazing photos throughout the tour — seriously some of the best pictures from my whole Japan trip. The deer were adorable and so fun to interact with. This tour was perfect from start to finish. Highly recommend Eri to anyone visiting Nara!

5.00Absolutely amazing tour guide! Had a wonderful experience and Hide was amazing and very informative. The fee was cheap and the tour went for 4 hours. We visited Nara and the atmosphere was incredible. It was just my family and I so it was a very intimate experience that made it the best for knowledge and any questions with the guide.

5.00My husband and I took a half-day tour to Nara with our wonderful guide, Ayu. It was only the two of us, so it became a private tour, which was wonderful. Ayu was personable and great at directing the pace of the tour to be able to enjoy the various temples and shrines around Nara. She always took some great photos of us, which I appreciated. She was knowledgeable about the sites and patient when we asked lots of questions. Our lunch was also great. Thank you!

5.00Good walking trail through the historical sites. Our tour guide Woohee was able to engage us in friendly conversations and share good explanations of the sites. Good to have this guided tour with a good lunch, than to do it in your own, where it may take more time to find your own way around. It’s worth it

5.00We had a great Nara walking tour with Yuuki today, it turned out to be a tour with just me, my wife and the guide. Yuuki was very knowledgeable about the area and its history, she shared a lot of details about the historical buildings and about Japan and its culture in general. The restaurant where we stopped for lunch was good too, my wife and I got the vegetarian meal and it was very tasty.
