This particular experience includes an additional element that allows you to enjoy and learn about Japanese tea more deeply. Our tea room is set in a renovated traditional Japanese house, providing a serene environment where you can unwind and lose track of time. You can sample five different types of Japanese tea or try whisking your own matcha, ensuring you’ll discover a favorite cup. From matcha with its delightful aroma to mellow roasted teas, each variety offers a unique taste. Enjoy a flight of five teas carefully selected by our tea master, then choose your favorite for a special pot-brewed serving. The master will skillfully bring out the tea’s full flavor with each pour. Under the guidance of a skilled tea master, you'll uncover the tradition's history, etiquette, and tools. Then, whisk your own matcha, immersing yourself in each tranquil motion. In this serene setting, savor the delicate aroma and flavor of your creation. Complete the experience by enjoying seasonal "Wagashi", perfectly complementing each sip. This intimate encounter offers a genuine connection to Japanese culture, as well as a moment of pure calm.

"Mike" was an excellent teacher of "tea." We learned so much. Doing the side by side tasting was very good in understanding the different teas. Mike was very patient in answering our questions. We now have an appreciation of the nuances of Japanese tea ceremony. It was fun trying to whisk our own macha.

I couldn't recommend this experience enough if you're a tea/matcha fanatic! The tutors were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They teach you the origins and significance of a traditional tea ceremony. The entire experience was very calming, a welcomed change from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo! At the end of the experience they give you insider tips on what to do/where to eat/bars to visit in Nara - because of that I highly recommend starting your day in Nara with this experience - all of the recommendations were fantastic. If you want to immerse yourself in Naras scene and culture, book this experience!

This was awesome! My host was super informative and helpful when it came to discussing different tea options and traditional tea ceremonies! He was also just super fun to chat with! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has the chance while visiting Nara!

Really great experience. Mike was knowledgeable and very kind. We had different type of teas in a traditional setting and had the opportunity to make our own matcha tea.
