The sanctuary is off the beaten track and most tourists are unaware of this animal haven! The guide will brief you on the sanctuary and how to respect the animals and safety measures. As you walk around the sanctuary, enjoy the company of the freely roaming animals in a responsible manner and learn about wildlife conservation in Africa. You'll literally be inches away from the giraffes, ostriches, antelopes and other animals. The guide will provide fun facts and walks around the sanctuary, to visit all the types of animals. Then you'll have time to settle down at a bench and admire the landscape. Weather and group dependent there is also a sanctuary wildlife tuk tuk that can be used to take guests from place to place. We had a great day, Tyson was a brilliant tour guide. We combined the giraffe tour with a tuc tuc city tour and drop off to/from hotel. Organisation was great and we were whatsapped all the details for reassurance. We felt we were supporting a great ethical company that looked after its guides. We saw all the main parts of Mombasa and didn’t feel rushed. We could tailor it towards what we wanted to do and see so very flexible.

This was a great excursion. We got up close and personal with the turtles, giraffes and an ostrich. It was a fun experience. Make sure you bring water. It’s a bit of a hike but it isn’t complicated.

I love giraffes, so I visited this little known place the day after I went to the more famous Haller Park. The main difference here is that you don't actually feed the giraffes like at Haller, but the trade off is that you get to walk among them, which is even better. I enjoyed my visit to Haller Park, but it's very commercialized and can get crowded. By contrast this excursion is to Nguuni Nature Sanctuary, far less known and almost no other people vying for attention. The animals here are wild and not fenced in but they are quite acclimatized to people and know when the park staff will put food out, so it's easy to predict where they'll be at certain times. What I liked best is how incredibly close to the giraffes you can get. You are literally just a few feet away, no fences or barriers separating you from them. You truly get a sense for how big these creatures are when you're standing right next to them and looking straight up. An important point to be aware of: this adventure starts and ends at the sanctuary entrance, not at your hotel. So you will need to budget enough time to get there before your nature walk starts. Even though it's just a few miles away from the island, it took us almost 45 minutes to get there because of traffic, so leave plenty of time ahead to make sure you get there on time. If you're taking a taxi to the sanctuary, make sure they stay and wait for you because it's a bit far from the main road and not in an area where cars normally roam. The park staff will tell your taxi where to meet you at the end of your nature walk (it won't be the same place where you started), so it'll be a seamless drop off and pick up experience.

Amazing experience. Loving walking near the giraffes and interacting with the ostrich. You really get a feel of how tall the giraffes are

10/10 experience. I am a travel curator and organised this tour for my clients as part of their package. From the communication to the pickup and the tour itself, this was a great experience. My clients thoroughly enjoyed themselves and passed on their compliments

Yesterday we had a blast with the Travel 4 Purpose team on the Mombasa City, nature, and food tour. The guides, Dogo and Tyson, were fantastic, offering incredible insights into Mombasa’s history and lifestyle. From feeding giraffes at Nguuni Animal Sanctuary to exploring the vibrant street food scene, every moment was unforgettable.

Spent an entire day with Tyson who took us to some amazing places in Mombasa. Omar was so passionate about the animals in Nguuni Sanctuary and made sure we had pictures to remind us of our walk among the giraffes and ostrich. While our tour guide in old town / fort Jesus was a walking historian. We ate some amazing food on our food tour and the Chi tea was delicious. Tyson made sure that our entire day was filled with laughter and stories. A tuk tuk ride is a must as is a stroll near the lighthouse, our entire day was filled with so many highlights. A big thank you to your entire team.

INCREDIBLE. Thank you so much to Sham and Aarti for all their help and making my proposal such a special and perfect moment. Their communication is excellent and they really know how to personalise things to make sure it’s exactly what you want! Their attention to detail is phenomenal and I’ll be sure to use them again when I come back to Kenya! Would whole-heartedly recommend to all!

The nature walk with Travel4Purpose was beautiful. For a brief moment we forgot we were in the heart of the hustling & bustling Mombasa. We saw animals along the way and at the end, the highlight was getting close to giraffes 🦒 We then went on and did the Mombasa Tour & also the Food Tour by Travel4Purpose. Highly recommend you just spend a full day exploring & enjoying all the beauty that Mombasa has to offer with knowledgeable guides. Can’t wait to come back again ❤️
