Nizwa Souq
The site of one of the oldest souqs in the country, this extensive marketplace is dedicated mostly to fruit and vegetables, meat and fish, all of which are housed in separate blocks behind the great, crenellated piece of city wall that overlooks the wadi. Part of the souq (nearest the fort) is dedicated to handicrafts and caters specifically to the passing tourist trade.
Nizwa Fort Oman
Nizwa Fort — the most attended monument of Oman. The fort was built almost 370 years ago and it’s based on the stream of water underneath. Surely, it’s one of the best castles of that period worth seeing. Then we’ll make a visit to Nizwa Souq. At the market you can buy traditional knives, pots and other unique items.

Nizwa and the Wadi experience were both interesting and breathtaking beautiful! Our traditional lunch was very tasty. And Azan, our guide was the epitome of knowledge and Omani curtesy.

We had an excellent day trip to Nizwa and Jebel Akhdar with our guide, Asaad. The tour was very well organized and paced, allowing enough time to explore without feeling rushed. Nizwa Fort and the souq were fascinating, and Asaad explained the history and local traditions clearly and thoughtfully, adding context that made the visit much more meaningful. The drive to Jebel Akhdar was comfortable and safe, and the views along the way were absolutely stunning. Once in the mountains, Asaad knew the best viewpoints and spots to stop for photos, which made the experience even better. What really stood out was Asaad’s professionalism and attitude. He was encouraging, friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive to our comfort throughout the day. He answered all questions patiently and shared many insights about Omani culture and daily life, not just the tourist highlights. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oman who wants to see both historical sites and breathtaking nature in one day, especially with a guide who genuinely cares about providing a high-quality experience

My wife and me had a wonderful tour from Maskat, to Nizwa, to the Green mountains and back to Maskat together with another couple and Qais as our Guide. It was a trip I will remember throughout my life. My wife and me really enjoyed the tour with Qais who explained and brought us closer to the history, customs, culture and tastes of Oman at all of our tour stations. Qais has a super sense of humor, next to English very impressive German skills, takes all questions and gave us all the freedom to explore the different locations. He is very international, knowledgeable, hospital and open minded. Qais is a very experienced and safe driver. Thank you Qais see you in Germany. Best Sayed and Nilofar

I felt guided like by a friend, not a tour guide. The whole experience was easy, warm, and genuinely pleasant thanks to our amazing guide—and even better person—Mohammad. The entire tour was so well thought through. We managed to see places that would normally feel hard to cover in one day, yet everything felt smooth, relaxed, cozy, and friendly. I’ve honestly never enjoyed a tour as much as I did yesterday.

We were picked up on time by Mohammed, our driver and guide who did a great job of looking after us for the day. The programme was very varied and Mohammed’s knowledgeable and clear explanations taught us so much about Oman. He was a credit to his tour company and to his country and has left us with many wonderful memories.

A great day out with 3 of us, with a knowledgeable and inforamtive guide. Mohammed looked after us well and was very hospitable. A lot packed into one day with a tour of the fort and visit to the souq in Nizwa. Then up an incredibly steep road to the green mountain with spectacular views and a tour around on top with lunch. Plenty of photo stops, managed to stop in Birkat al Mouz as sun went down to get some great photo's.

My guide, Mohammed Ali, was excellent, both in his local knowledge and in being ultra helpful. I was going to a friend’s place for dinner that evening and then guide went out of his way to help me, speaking to my friend and finding a safe taxi to get me there. He made sure the taxi driver had both his and my friend’s details so that they could ensure I got there safely. The locations we visited were beautiful. We were a small group of four and everyone in the group was friendly.

The trip among the mountains is espectacular. Once in Nizwa, the visit of Date Market is a must to taste different types of dates. The zouk is not big but good enough to find souvernirs. The Fort is really worth of visiting. The interior is beautiful. Perfect place to get good pictures. We had a very good and friendly guide Mohammed that was explaining not only about the places we visited but also about the Omaní life. The lunch was simple but very tasty. In out way back we visited the small old village Bait al Sabat. Definetely good place to take last pictures.
