Join a dynamic Northern Lights chase from Tromsø where your entire evening is dedicated to maximizing your chances of seeing the Aurora. This is not a fixed-route tour; instead, your expert guides use constantly updated weather and solar activity reports to find the clearest skies and most active lights. Your itinerary is 100% flexible, meaning you'll travel wherever the data leads, whether that's one perfect spot or several locations. You won't just see the lights—you'll learn how to capture them. A professional photographer is on your tour to help you get the most out of your own camera and will also take an optional professional portrait of you with the Aurora. Please be aware that if you are booking between April 15th and 20th, your tour will be affected by increasing daylight hours. Even on clear skies, the Northern Lights may not appear as strong as they do during the deep winter, and your tour duration may be shorter during this specific period.

All activities carried on in the Arctic regions are considered slightly dangerous due to the extreme weather conditions that sometimes may occur. Temperatures can drop as low as -30°C ( -22°F)
While these are uncommon, natural risks include avalanches, frozen grounds, snow storms or any other natural phenomenons that we cannot control
Dress appropriately and be careful when exploring
The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any excursion when the weather conditions are known to be dangerous. In which case a full refund to all guests will be issued
We often see the northern lights, even in very cloudy, rainy or snowy nights. Therefore we run the tours regardless of the weather conditions.
50% discount is offered on your next Aurora tour if you do not see the Aurora on your first tour. This must be booked at our desk and depends on the availability of the day you choose to try again. If there is no available seats left, then we will book you on another day. You cannot request a refund for this offer in case there are no available seats or in case you cannot take a tour another day. (We are often fully booked from Dec.15th to Jan.9th)
By booking with us you agree that NorthernShots Tours, will own full copyrights of any photo taken by us during our tours. We will upload photos of you to a third party web platform and monetize on the photos. We might publish video footages of you. If you do not wish any photo of you to be published nor taken, please inform us as well as your guide before the tour and do not pose for our photographers.
Tour duration is variable. When the weather is challenging, we may drive the whole time looking for a clear patch of sky to see the northern lights. This may increase the duration of the tour. As well as if we are lucky to see the Northern Lights earlier, the tour may also finish earlier.
Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed.
The tour may stay in one location all night or travel to various spots, the priority is always to get the best views of the lights. You may need to sit in the vehicle for several hours while we are trying to find the northern lights
You cannot claim a refund related to the weather conditions and temperatures perceived inside or outside the vehicle.
Please CHECK-IN at the meeting point 30 minutes prior Departure.
You will be permitted to board our vehicle only if you have CHECKED-IN.
Failure to CHECK-IN on time, will remove any entitlement to refunds or rescheduling.
During high season our city receives 5 times more visitors. During these periods you can expect big crowds and our guides may find a spot to see the northern lights where they need to park next to many other vehicles from other companies.
In-person guide may be the driver if less than 16guests book the tour. The vehicles used may not have toilet onboard.
Depending on the vehicle, this tour/activity may have approximately 50 travelers per bus
If you miss your flight or boat due to late return of our tours, you need to cover for the costs of new tickets / accommodation and any expenses needed in order to accomplish you travel plan. We cannot be responsible for any costs related to that.
It will not be allowed to eat inside the vehicle.
It is not allowed to use the toilet while the vehicle is moving.
The vehicle may drive for a long period without stopping for a toilet break. While this is rare, it may happen if we are in a road that does not allow for a vehicle to stop..
We may cross the border to Finland in order to reach a parking lot that may be suitable for watching the northern lights in some tours. Bring your passport or ID card accordingly.
You cannot claim a refund related to any issues with the vehicle used in the activities, as this is a service provided by a 3rd party company. – A puncture tire, or a vehicle stuck on an icy road are considered natural incidents and are not considered grounds for claiming a refund. A vehicle that is stuck on an icy road is often rescued in 2h. Please be mindful with regards to the team effort to make your trip pleasant and bring you back home safe. (Get familiar with the Arctic Nature and the Arctic Weather before traveling.) If you still have a claim, this needs to be addressed directly to the transport companies.
Although the vehicle is normally heated, please be aware that on especially cold nights, it may gradually cool down. We recommend you to dress in warm layers to keep comfortable throughout the tour, both in or outside of the bus.
Cancellation Policy
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

5.00Amazing Northern Lights Tour – Highly Recommended! ✨ We had a fantastic experience on this northern lights photography tour. Everything was very well organized from start to finish, and the team clearly knew exactly where to go to find the best viewing spots – which made all the difference. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything clearly, from the science behind the aurora to how to capture it on camera. What we especially loved were the professional photos – he took beautiful portraits of us in front of the northern lights, which made the experience even more memorable. The coach was very comfortable, and the whole tour felt smooth, relaxed, and thoughtfully planned. We truly enjoyed every moment and would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone hoping to see the northern lights!

5.00It was an absolutely stunning tour! We were lucky to have clear skies and very high activity, so we didn't have to go far. Tomas chose great locations for photography (one with a mountain scenery, and one with a bridge), and also explained the background of northern lights and how to take pictures.

5.00This is an experience of a lifetime. The fee is all worth and we were able to see northern lights throughout the night. We were satisfied with the length of time of the whole trip. The atmosphere is perfect for viewing/photography and it was on a vast frozen valley near a river. We were a bus full and the whole area where we stopped has a large area where everyone can roam around freely. Two thumbs up for the staff they were so helpful and taught us a few tricks to photograph aurora borealis and they took excellent photo of us. This trip is best for chasing the northern lights and we highly recommend.

5.00Was an absolutely amazing adventure. Found a place with guide straight away and the lights were on top form that night. Highly recommend checking the aurora apps before booking to avoid disappointment as not guides fault of can't see the night u go. We were very lucky to see them four nights on the trot

4.00I know seeing the lights is very much a matter of luck and we were so lucky. We have done two tours in the past and this was specrtacular. Tomas was our guide and he was very helpful in taking photos, unfortunately for us our phones are quite old and not brilliant but we mostly just focused on enjoying the experience, which was fantastic, the whiole sky was alive with lights and we saw dancing lights for the first time. Were given hot chocolate and biscuits and a fire was set up. It was -23 at one point so definitely the coldest part of our holiday so go well prepared. The only downside was we thought we had booked a coach so if it gets too cold we could get inside nd warm up but on arrival were told there were not enough people so it was going to be a minibus. As that means many hours without any toilet facilities I asked if i coud quickly use the toilet before we set off. The receptionist told me no, I had to go across to the bus station across the road. I did this but got there to find you have to pay and I did not have any money or a card with me so rushed back to avoid delaying the tour. Luckily Tomas then asked if anyone wanted to use the toilet and several hands went up. He then was happy for us to use the office toilet. I feel the receptionist could have been a lot more helpful. Hence 4 stars not 5.

1.00if your intention is as a amateur photographer to do this tour so u can get your own photos. this is not for you company is only interested in taking their own photos so they can make more money. was a very disappointing experience. Big tour bus so restricted in places they can go.

5.00The guides took all the efforts to locate a suitable place to view the northern lights since it was cloudy and raining in Tromso.. they even helped me in taking photos of aurora from my mobile which i found it to be a very thoughtful gesture of the guide as because of this help I CLD click many good pics of the NL.

2.00Unfortunately I was dissatisfied for two reasons: 1. The tour is declared for small groups and instead I found myself on a big bus full; 2. The photographer who was supposed to assist us in setting up the camera said that he only knew Sony and that he didn’t know Canon at all, so in the end I only took pictures from my mobile phone and nothing with my Canon EOS. On the other hand, a positive aspect: the guide was really very good at explaining the phenomenon in full English. She was also very careful to follow indexes and the probability of the appearance of the aurora avoiding us to get cold unnecessarily, letting us in and out of the bus only if there were chances to see the aurora that we then managed to see and photograph.
