The Northern Traditional Thai Cooking Class takes place at a historic location with a long culinary history. This establishment has been dedicated to developing Northern Thai food and making it more accessible for people to enjoy.
The cooking class focuses on teaching participants how to prepare traditional Northern Thai dishes using simplified techniques that make them easier to recreate at home. While maintaining the authenticity and flavors of Northern Thai cuisine, the class aims to make the recipes and cooking methods approachable for all skill levels.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced cook, this Northern Traditional Thai Cooking Class offers an opportunity to learn and appreciate the flavors and culture of Northern Thai food. By the end of the class, participants gain the skills and knowledge to recreate these delicious dishes in their own kitchens, keeping the culinary traditions of the region alive.

Upon arriving at the class, participants are warmly welcomed with a delicious northern Thai chili dipping sauce served with a variety of local fried snacks, which they get to fry themselves. Afterward, a refreshing herbal drink is served to complement the flavors. During the class, participants learn to cook both the original and easy versions of the famous dish, Khao Soi. The menu changes each day, giving participants the chance to cook a variety of popular Thai dishes such as: Pad Thai Papaya Salad Stir-fried rice noodles with soy sauce Stir-fried chicken with holy basil At the end of the class, participants get to make traditional Thai desserts, including: Banana in coconut milk Sweet sticky rice with Longan The class finishes with a fun tasting session, where everyone enjoys the dishes they’ve prepared. As an added bonus, after the class we offer take-home, FDA-approved local ingredients such as Khao Soi and Hung Lei curry paste, so participants can easily recreate their favorite dishes at home and continue their culinary journey.

Our driver and guide spoke very good English and was excited to share everything with us. They had some snacks prepared when we got there and we fried the crackers to eat them with. Then we made 5 other dishes and a tea during the rest of the class. My friend and I had an afternoon class all to ourselves so we had lots of one on one attention and instruction. We were also able to sample the masters food to see how the dishes should taste. Would definitely recommend this class.

Our cooking class was such a highlight that we wished we had booked a class for each day of our stay in Chiang Mai. The teachers were so helpful and friendly, the ingredients so fresh and all the dishes we cooked were delicious. A most memorable and very special experience.

We had an amazing cooking class. Starting with a short trip to a thai market and then went to the cooking class. Our guide told us many interesting things about the history of chiang mai and the region as well about the meals we cooked. It was delicious and a lot if fun! I can totally recommend this cooking class. A big thanks to Ohm and the two ladies who cooked with us.

What a great day we had cooking some fabulous Thai dishes. From start to finish, this was a very well organised day and a great experience. Set in a beautiful setting on the farm with the animals grazing close by. The recipes were taught in a really clear and fun way by brilliant staff. I would highly recommend A Roi Dee cooking school, it was a highlight of my stay in Chiang Mai. Thank you.

Our cooking class was great! We enjoyed seeing all the farm animals (especially the goats and the little water Buffalo) and getting a personal experience. The food was awesome and all our helpers were friendly and patient with us. Would definitely recommend! - Johanna and Megan from Canada

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class experience. The instructors were incredibly kind, funny, and helpful throughout. We kicked off the Northern cuisine segment with a delightful boiled herbal drink infused with longan and bael fruit, which offered a wonderfully sweet and aromatic start. Later, we had a blast frying chips and rice crackers to complement three traditional dishes. Our knowledgeable guide walked us through the authentic way to savor each dish, enhancing the overall experience. The highlight was undoubtedly crafting what I can confidently say was the most exquisite khaosoi paste I've ever tasted. The instructors demonstrated exceptional skill in preserving the original flavor while also helping us customize it to our liking. It was a truly remarkable experience. And let's not forget the mouthwatering pad thai, zesty papaya salad, and the indulgent deep-fried banana. This class was a culinary journey we won't soon forget!
