There is one man who epitomizes Nottingham above all else and we will follow hot on his tail to various points in the City that are pivotal to the adventures of Robin Hood including Nottingham Castle.
Nottingham sits upon what is known as the City of Caves with there being almost 1,000 known caves beneath the city. In our tour we will descend underground, seeing the highlights, some of which were used in WW2 as public air-raid shelters
Visit the old Lace Market & uncover the secrets of this famous part of Nottinghams' heritage. We will also learn about some of the less palatable parts of the history of Nottingham, where many of the executions took place.
We end at possibly the oldest pub in Britain. Frequented by crusaders heading south and partially built into the rock beneath Nottingham Castle.

In depth walk around Nottingham. At our own pace with a knowledgeable guide. From the caves to the castle, the journey through time was enjoyable with interesting points of history explained by Stephen. So many things you would just walk past without knowing it!

Stephen was without a doubt, the most incredible and knowledgeable guide I have ever had the the experience of being with. His depth of knowledge of the history behind the places we visited is more than I have ever experienced. He manages to do provide this incredible level of information yet is comfortable to talk with and comes across as just a regular person with that is comfortable to talk with. I cannot give a higher recommendation than I would give for Stephen.

Our Robin Hood guided tour was excellent, Stephen was friendly , knowledgeable and we had such a laugh while learning lots of history. We saw places that even locals wouldn’t have known existed and I cannot wait for the next tour. I love that the tours are private ( not 70 of you on a packed out tour bus ), so you get to ask all your questions and it feels so personal. We explored a canal , caves , a castle and the oldest pub in the UK ( to name but a few stops ). I would recommend Stephen for any of the personal tours he offers and cannot wait to book the next one. Thank you again Stephen for a wonderful day!

Stephen our guide is very knowledgeable and personable. He showed us areas of Nottingham that we would not have found on our own. He is extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture and had interesting trivia he would share to keep everyone engaged. I definitely recommend this tour!

Thoroughly enjoyable, a great 1/2 day out being informative and entertaining. The courtroom, the gaol, the cells and convicts stories all very good, however the court case is definitely the star attraction

Stephen Liddell of Ye Olde England Tours was my guide and took me through Nottingham streets, including St Mary’s Church where Robin Hood would visit and was spotted by a monk who reported the sighting to the Sheriff of Nottingham. The sheriff had him captured until Little John rescued him. This and many other snippets of history makes this a great tour. The walk through the City of Caves was amazing and the visit to the remains of Nottingham Castle very interesting. Stephen makes English history enjoyable and fun! Definitely recommend this tour.Ends with an ale at Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem pub - one of the oldest pubs in England.
