What To Expect
Hi, I’m Katerina! Born and raised here on Naxos, and for the past five years I’ve been sharing my island through olive oil, food, and simple everyday traditions. In my brandnew workshop in the heart of Naxos Town, I host small, cozy groups for a tasting and baking experience that feels warm, relaxed, and genuinely local. We begin with a friendly introduction to extra virgin olive oil. What makes an oil truly “extra virgin”? How do you recognise real aromas and flavors? Can we cook with it? Together we explore these questions while tasting different Naxian oils, learning easy techniques, and discovering how locals pair olive oil with herbs and food. Then we dive into baking. We prepare a traditional bread using a family recipe that has passed from my great-grandmother to my grandmother to me. It’s simple and full of the smells and memories I grew up with. With small groups, everything feels personal. More like spending time with a local than following a big class. By the end, you’ll have tasted Naxos in the most authentic way! Join me in the center of Naxos Town and experience traditional Naxian flavors with real expertise, heart, and a touch of fun.

5.00We highly recommend the Eggares experience. Nicoleta is a charming host, the fourth generation to oversee this special experience. Our tour leader, Katerina, conveyed the warm hospitality of Naxos and was enthusiastic about explaining traditional olive production. She told many lovely stories about her culture and made us laugh. We learned a lot about olive oil while having fun, baking bread and enjoying a delicious lunch with all local ingredients. While you can see a traditional olive press in many villages, you can only find Nicolette, Katerina, and Maya in Eggares. You will be glad you did.

5.00Come hungry because there are all kinds of olive treats and olive oil and bread and jam and it was just a wonderful experience. We saw the old fashioned methods of making olive oil and learned a lot about the mechanism of olive farming. Katerina was an exceptionally good guide and come up with Nicolette, shared a morning of treats and stories. There were four of us and we agreed it was a great experience.

5.00This is such a great experience! The owner of the museum was incredible and our guide for the morning was fantastic and very knowledgeable. My wife and I even came back the next day to purchase more olive oil after buying luggage to take back home with us haha. Highly recommend this!

5.00This was one of the most enjoyable experiences on the island! We had such a good time - our tour guide/activity hostess was so friendly, personable & informative. She was an absolute joy! Everyone at the Museum shop were friendly and nice. This is a family - owned and operated establishment and they make you feel like part of the family. I highly recommend this activity. I would absolutely do it again!

5.00We had so much fun doing the bread baking class with Katarina! It was just 7 of us in the class, and the perfect morning activity. The drive to the olive oil museum is pretty and easy to get to from Naxos town/Chora area. Definitely recommend booking this if you’re looking for something different to do!
