Welcome to discovering to Tajikistan’s Fann Mountains are always covered with snow and where narrow valley between mountains hide small lakes with an amazing color of water. The lakes are called the “Haftkul” by local people which It means “Seven lakes” in English. Tour starts from Samarkand to Panjikent city and drive to the 7 beautiful jewel lakes. There are some mountain villages near Seven Lakes Pardut, Khurdak and Marguzor, Shin here we can see the rural life of mountain people.
There are homestays to spend a very local night. It's an easy trek and a wonderful experience.

What To Expect
Penjikent is a small city in Tajikistan territory. We will stop for buying some water and food. Samarkand – Panjikent Our tour starts at 8:00 from your hotel. Meet up with our driver in your hotel and transfer to Uzbek - Tajik border. We need to walk to cross the border Uzbek-Tajik. After brief passport control, (Please check your passports, Europeans do not need a visa) we meet by Tajikistan guide and drive to the second big city of Tajikistan – Panjikent.
Seven Lakes
The lakes are called the “Haftkul” by local people which It means “Seven lakes” in English. Tour starts from Samarkand to Panjikent city and drive to the 7 beautiful jewel lakes. Seven lakes and Picnic on the Fann Mountains We stop in a local small shop for buying some food for the picnic. Drive to the Seven lakes (1,640 meters to 2,400 meters above sea level) Nezhigon, Soya, Gushor, Nofin, Khurdak, Marguzor, Hazorchashma - indescribable views, emerald green and turquoise lakes surrounded by snow-capped mountains... and the distance between the first and last lakes is more than 14 kilometers. Tour takes 8-9 hours going and come back. The best time for visiting is late June–mid-September for trekking and July–August for mountaineering, when the weather is usually at its best.

5.00Our day at the 7 lakes was perfect. Our guides and drivers were very punctual, and told us a lot about both countries. The visit to Panjakent market was very good, the food chosen was delicious. We had a very cold weather but the driver did not hesitate to turn on the heat to warm us ahah. The lakes are exceptional especially the 2nd, 6th and 7th. The road is fairytale and we're taking a lot of eyes. Even crossing the border was simple and quick. Overall I would recommend this excursion as unmissable during a visit to Samarkand. This allows you to get out of the city, connect with people, see the beautiful Tajik landscapes, etc.

Super convenient and reliable, he speaks perfect English, is super educated about Central Asia and can give you a thousand facts and, most importantly, is a very sympathic, great guy. Not only did we visit the seven lakes, but he took us to a match of kupkari, where he was deeply connected with all the locals and made sure we were having a great time. Again: 5/5 stars, book this tour.

5.00Our day trip from Samarkand to Tajikistan was truly unforgettable and exceeded every expectation. We explored the stunning Seven Lakes (Haft Kul) in the Tajik mountains – each one more breathtaking than the last, with colors ranging from deep blue to jade green. The journey itself was already a joy, with scenic mountain views at every turn. A stop in the vibrant city of Panjakent added a cultural highlight to the day. The town buzzed with life - a perfect complement to the tranquility of the lakes. We were lucky to have three amazing guides: one from Uzbekistan and two from Tajikistan. They worked together seamlessly, were kind, knowledgeable, and made us feel completely safe and comfortable throughout the journey. A special shout-out goes to our driver, whose incredible skill allowed us to travel the unpaved mountain roads smoothly and safely – no small feat! Joining us were two lovely fellow travelers from Singapore, and together we shared not only laughs and stories, but also a delicious picnic by the river. The natural beauty of Tajikistan, paired with the warm hospitality of its people, made this day nothing short of magical. This was without a doubt one of the best excursions we've ever done – a perfect mix of nature, culture, and friendship. Rahmat! Tashakkur!
