The head of the Leshan Giant Buddha is 14.7 meters tall and 10 meters wide and is covered with 1,021 buns of curly hair. People say:“The mountain is a Buddha and the Buddha is a mountain”

5.00Chengdu is the capital of pandas, and the visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a must. And the amazing Leshan Giant Buddha is nothing short of amazing! Remember to take ferry for the breath taking view of the giant buddha. We were also recommended to visit the 10,000 Buddhas cave. The amazing carvings are not to be missed. Please make sure to ask the staff at the ticketing counter to purchase the tickets. Finally our driver Ms. Han Juxia was very friendly and accommodating although she only speaks mandarin. Remember she is not a tour guide thus has extended her service beyond that. We had a really amazing time!

5.00Great combo for a well-paced day tour. We booked only a private car and everything went smoothly. The pandas of course are a must (you can rent the audio guide on site), and the Leshan Giant Buddha is far but worth it. Special thanks to Lichao, our professional and friendly driver. Comfortable car, he allowed us plenty of time at the panda base, and he even helped us get last-minute tickets. Definitely recommended.

5.00Shi Jianhua was my guide and he was great. Very kind and understanding. He was also a professional driver and I felt very safe in the car with him. The day was amazing. The pandas were beautiful, and the Leshan giant buddha was stunning. Absolutely recommend doing this!!

5.00Tour guide was great. Very accommodating to my family while traveling with a toddler. He gave us plenty of time, didn’t rush. Stopped for food during our long drive to leshan buddah. He even had umbrellas available since it was very rainy. Also if doing the panda tour, he recommended the extra shuttle bus $30 CNY. Which was a lifesaver in the rain

1.00I booked this $180/person “whole day” trip to visit the panda reserve and the Leshan Buddha through Tripadvisor. The logistics were terrible, a bad joke. The “guide” was also the driver and spoke no English at all, really at all, we “communicated” with sentences translated on his smartphone. In the panda reserve, he was not aware that the parking lot near the entrance was closed for months - we parked 1km away, he escorted me to the entrance, then I was on my own, no tips where to go and where to focus. Once out, we drove to Leshan. When we arrived there was a queue to buy tix, other groups had prebooked tix and walked right in. I was amazed that they had not reserved tix. After waiting for about 30 min, we were told there were no tix left for the day. Unbelievable as it sounds, they had booked me a tour without having booked tickets to where we were going in advance. So we drove back, without seeing the Buddha, and this was my only chance The trip to Leshan was 5 hour waste of time. Save your money, go by taxi, I priced it all at the hotel once back, it would have been 1/2 price for one person via taxi, 1/4 price for two. You can do everything they advertise as tours on your own, via taxi; the tour does not add anything except an early morning wake-up.
