What To Expect
Plaza Regocijo (Kusipata)
Kick off your once-in-a-lifetime journey to Rainbow Mountain, Peru, with an early morning start at 0500, as we collect you from your Cusco hotel. From there, a scenic three-hour drive awaits through the South Valley of Cusco, leading us to the welcoming Hanchi Pacha community in Pitumarca Village.

Upon arrival, a sumptuous traditional breakfast will be served. Following a brief safety orientation, we set out on the mesmerizing Rainbow Mountain Trek. Within the next two and a half hours, you'll ascend to an elevation of 5030 meters (16502 ft.), with panoramic views awaiting at the summit. The trail promises enchanting vistas of lush landscapes, local wildlife like Llamas and Alpacas, indigenous communities, and the mountain's iconic vivid hues. As we traverse through various Andean highland villages, our guide will enrich your journey with tales and traditions of the locales.

Rainbow Mountain from Cusco by quad bike: beautiful scenery

5.00Although the full day excursion to the Rainbow Mountain starts at 4:30 am when you do all the walking, when the same excursion is done using quadricycles, the tour starts at 8:30 am. This makes it possible to arrive at the place, after lunch, when the bulk of the tourists have already left the place and therefore it is not necessary to line up to take the photo at the bottom viewpoint in addition to being able to appreciate the place in all its splendour. We decided to use quadricycles to climb the road because the lagoon is 5000m high and the final climb demands a lot of energy. There are two viewpoints, an upper and a lower one that allow to observe the whole colorful part of the mountain. It is a very nice place of the same style as the Hornocal de Jujuy but it looks very close.
