  Janis was an excellent driver and tour guide. We had very interesting discussions about Norwegian culture & politics during the long drive. He knows the route very well: he stopped a few times so we could look at things of interest and take photos. He was prompt. He explained clearly our next steps and where to meet him off the boat and train. A very long day and completely worth it for the views of many different landscapes, on the drive, the boat and the trains. Glorious fjord. Stunning Flåm railway including a stop for the most amazing waterfall.

  Highly recommend this day tour, its full long day, but it's slick, well organised, and full of wow moments. The trains were great, the cruise was magical. Our guide Janis, was punctual, polite, and very well versed on all the areas we visited. He made sure we were completely comfortable every step of the way.

  After hours in a van covered in pet hair and bench seats, we were given our tickets and told where to stand on the platform at Gielo for the train to Flam. Just as our guide was about to leave, a stranger on the platform told us that the track was closed because of a fire that had occurred the day before, at 3 p.m. If this stranger had not spoken up, we would have stood waiting for the platform waiting for a train that wasn’t going to show up. I understand the fire is beyond the tour company's control, but they did nothing to check ahead or check the schedule while we were there. We then got into the car and drove grimly on. All in all, ten hours in a terribly uncomfortable van, with limited or no “guiding,” a huge oversight about a canceled train that could have stranded us in the middle of nowhere and an unwillingness to make things right (I wrote to the tour operator and asked her to refund us more than the value of the tickets and never heard back from her) made that a very difficult and painful day for us. It cost us close to $2,000 and a whole day of our vacation. We were beyond frustrated and Viator refunded us about $80 of the $1900.

• Flam train - a songefjord cruise

  This tour was a private van trip to the flam train and songefjord cruise- the day was ling but well worth the experience! the views were amazing. Above all our driver guide Bjorn was EXCEPTIONAL! He was so personable and engaging- gave us so much information during the trip and his instructions were on point and easy to follow
