What To Expect
Ostrog Monastery
One fo the most visited Orthodox monasteries in the world and the most important Orthodox sacred place in Montenegro, situated against an almost vertical background, high up in the large rock of Ostroška Greda, in Montenegro. It is dedicated to Saint Basil of Ostrog, who was buried here. It consists of two parts - the Upper and Lower Monasteries.In the Upper, Monastery are kept Saint Basil of Ostrog’s relics. Saint Basil is the founder of the monastery From the monastery, a super view of the Bjelopavlići plain can be seen. Believers from all over the world come here to pray for the health of their loved ones and their own. The monastery was established in the 17th century but renovated in the 20th century.
Waterfall Niagara
One of the most selected spots to see in Podgorica, the capital city of Montenegro, is Niagara waterfalls, part of canyon river Cijevna. These waterfalls were built 150 years ago for the needs of the mill where flour used to be milled. Today it is a tourist attraction and magnificent scene of nature, where water breaks through the stones and creating a scene for a postcard. Due to the narrow passages, large rocks and large vineyard stretches, the Niagara falls are one of the most beautiful in Montenegro. In option with Skadar Lake(option 3) the waterfalls stop is complementary so doesn't affect the price. Have fun.

5.00Vladimir picked us up from our hotel in Kotor on time and was an amazing tour guide the whole day. He made our 2 hr trip to Ostrog feel like 30 minutes. He is so informational about his country.

3.00The guide was good. However I thought I had booked an activity with Ostrog Monastery, Skadar Lake, Niagara Falls,Virpazar city for 225 euros for two. Apparently the falls were dry which I can understand. And when the guide contacted someone from the agency I had apprently only booked the monastery.... It’s strange because my ticket was Ostrog and water falls Niagara I therefore find that 225 euros was expensive to visit a monastery only…. Be carefull with the program when you do the réservation…

5.00Had somewhat mixed feelings about giving this tour a five as was leaning towards a four the guide made that pretty clear. A few things why I thought it was not a five. While we had a private tour when it came to the boat ride it was not private, we had another couple join us. Also the "Niagara" was not really worth it as it added unnecessary time, as the trip to the Monastery is pretty long and was more of a point of the tour. The guide on the other hand was absolutely amazing and not to mention his driving skills and knowledge of both history and the surroundings.

5.00Great day traveling with Dimitri from Mont Travelers - gave us some great history and facts about Montenegro, Podgorica, and the local culture on the way up to the monastery and then on the the way to the waterfalls. He quickly modified some of the itinerary for other sites since we had already visited and showed us some lesser known towns, etc. He had such great demeanor, knowledge, and a sense of humor (not to mention driving skills on the hairpin-turn-road up the mountain) that we booked a trip for the next day to for a boat ride near Lake Skadar and a winery tour and tasting (separately reviewed). You won't be disappointed! I've purposely not added photos - you need to see for yourself - Happy travels :)
