Our guide and driver was Benjamin. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. He somehow managed while driving on difficult uneven roads to spot well hidden wildlife. Consequently we saw most animals in the park. He stopped and spent time explaining the different animal’s characteristics, and was happy to answer all our questions. So ask for Benjamin to be your guide if he is available. He also took us to a mock-up of a Massai village so tourists could see how they used to live. There were various entertainments included. This was an additional charge of $US20 each. Stayed at the Voi lodge which was very spacious, clean and the buffet meals were very good. There was a watering hole outside the dining area to view the elephants in the evening when they gathered to drink. No air conditioning in the van but with the windows and pop-top open we found the heat comfortable. One thing to be aware of is the red dust blows into the van and sticks on your clothes, even after washing, so take old fawn or dark coloured garments if you have them with you.

We did this tour with 2 other couples. The communications with Victoria began about 6 months prior to our tour. She was very helpful and prompt in replying to our questions. It was lovely to meet her as we departed the cruise ship to begin this grand adventure. Benjamin was our driver and guide for our 2 day visit of Tsavo National Park. As well as being a good driver, he was able to point out a wide variety of animals and birds as we drove through the park. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We stayed overnight in the Voi Lodge. The rooms were spacious and clean. We were able to see a herd of elephants enjoy the pond after dark from our balcony. We also enjoyed 3 meals at the lodge, which were very good.

We had a wonderful time on this trip that was booked for our group of 6 by our friend. We were travelling on a cruise ship and were picked up at the port by Victoria and her colleague who took us outside of the port gates to meet our driver/ tour guide, Benjamin. There was a moment of uncertainty when we noted the vehicle was not air conditioned but saw the windows opened and found it was fine for the journey and safari touring through the park. We later learned that none of the other types of cars had aircon either. We saw elephants, lions, antelope gazelles, hippopotamus, and giraffes (albeit they were quite far away) to name only a few as well as many different birds. We had more time in the park than expected. The Voi Wildlife Lodge was very clean and food was delicious. The staff was very helpful and for a $5US deposit was able to loan me an outlet converter to help with charging all the batteries and devices overnight. We would strongly recommend this trip to anyone travelling to the area.
