Grazie mille to Simona and Pastamania for such a fun experience and lessons learned in crafting fettuccini and ravioli! Simona's fun and enthusiasm for teaching these techniques really stuck with our family and we are so happy to be able to cook pasta at home that will forever remind of us Florence.

The atmosphere is amazing! relaxed, fun, and very authentic. It feels like cooking together in a real Italian family. The instructors make everyone feel comfortable and explain each step clearly without ever making it boring.

One of the highlights of our trip (which says a lot bc experienced some amazing things). It ranks as a highlight bc it allowed us to create an interactive memory. It’s like the best souvenir to take home, the memory of learning something new coupled with the skill to attempt this after our vacation as well. Yes, there are a lot of pasta classes you can try. I enjoyed this one, and chose it particularly for the focus on making homemade pasta. I didn’t want to complicate the course by adding learn how to make gelato or tiramisu as well. I wanted the focus to be on hands on pasta making. We also stayed in the heart of Florence and the location of this class was just over the Arno from where we stayed (roughly a 7 minute walk). It was easy to fit this class in, while still being able to plan other activities into our day. Some other classes take you to the Tuscany hillside but I imagine that becomes more of a day long commitment. Our class size was 11 ppl, 3 families of 3 and a couple. Nicola led our experience. He spoke in English and would then translate in Spanish for an 8 year old little girl. He made all of the kids in our group feel recognized. Our daughter, 17, was the oldest…yet, he even made her feel acknowledged and important. He valued the experience of the 3 kids just as much as he valued the experience of the adults. My daughter continues to say it was one of the most fun things that we did (and she’s not at all interested in cooking in general). When we finished making the pasta (we made 3 varieties), we learned in more of a presentation about two sauces (the tomato was by far my favorite). Then we all sat down to eat a plated meal, sharing a bottle of wine as a group. Dessert was premade, salame di cioccolato and served to the group after enjoying our pastas. It wasn’t something we would have thought to order in Italy but it turned out to be my favorite. The class ended with a tour of a pasta museum and a wine tasting. It also ended with incredible memories and happy bellies. *I will end by saying, I’d give our class and 3/4th of our group a 10/10 rating. There was a family (from my own country) that was less than gracious and respectful of not only the instructor but also of other participants. It did not take away from our enjoyment of the experience at all. Nicola, regardless, handled himself like a gentleman and continued to be a gracious host and teacher to every participant (which endeared him to us even more).
