You'll discover the charming game of petanque, which is at the heart of French culture and social life. First, I'll teach you the basic rules and techniques - how to hold the metal balls, aim properly, and choose between "pointing" (placing your ball close to the target) or "shooting" (knocking away your opponent's balls). We'll start with some practice throws to help you get comfortable with the weight and feel of the balls. Once you've got the basics down, we'll play some friendly matches where you can put your new skills to use. Don't worry if you're new to the game - petanque is easy to learn but offers plenty of room for strategy as you improve. While we play, I'll share interesting stories about the local area and the history of petanque - from its origins in ancient games to its modern popularity across France. You'll learn why this game has become such an essential part of French lifestyle, especially in the south of France. The relaxed pace of petanque makes it perfect for conversation and cultural exchange. Feel free to ask questions about local life, history, or anything else you're curious about as we enjoy this quintessentially French pastime together.

One of the best tours that we have taken through Trip Advisor. Milan our tour guide and pétanque instructor was fabulous! He gave us a short tour of the Latin Quarter where he showed us key points of interest. The church, St Etienne du Mont, is absolutely stunning inside. Then it was on to the La Monge park to learn and play a game of Petanque. Milan is a very good instructor/coach. It was a very fun afternoon! I highly recommend this experience if you are in Paris!

This experience is really a lot of fun. Milan met me and then we walked through the Luxembourg gardens to play. While we were walking he told about the history of some sites we saw along the way in a fun way. He explained the simple rules of petanque and also the strategy. Then we played. We had an audience watching which was fun. Milan is very nice and friendly. I highly recommend this experience.

I had always wanted to learn to play Petanque, and am soo glad Milano was the one to teach me! He was easy to communicate with, fun to ne around and has an immense knowledge on the subject and in general, all things Paris. Milano was able to judge our level of interest and mould his way of telling us things accordingly. We could tell that he would be an excellent guide in Paris too. He let us learn the game, and also enjoy playing it as well. He was a great sport and we would definitely love to go on a guided tour with him the next time we are in Paris. Thank you Milano, all our best wishes to you!!!

We signed up for a Pétanque lesson and received so much more! Milan met us at our starting point in the Latin Quarter and kicked things off with a wonderful walking tour, sharing his extensive knowledge and stories about the area—even customizing it a bit based on our interests. After the tour. We headed to the old Roman arena for our lesson. We knew a bit about the game, and Milan taught us the real rules (we’d been playing all wrong!), coached us on form and strategy, and gave us tips on the cultural etiquette of the game. If you’re looking for a true Parisian experience—with a true Parisian—this is the tour for you!
