What To Expect
Popeye Village Malta
'Popeye Village Malta', is the Original Film Set of the 1980 Paramount Production Musical “Popeye”, also known as 'Popeye Village'. The film set was constructed in Anchor Bay during the last 7 months of 1979. Popeye Village is open all year round and people can enjoy Guided Tour in English related to the film set, Meet Popeye and the Gang, become a movie star during a filming experience, enjoy Animation Activities, Silver smith demonstrations, a Comic and Memorabilia museum, a Cinema showing a documentary and get Free Popcorn once you are in there and Postcard and enjoy a round of Mini-Golf at the upper complex. One can also participate in a Scavenger Hunt to find the missing jewel. In summer, one can also enjoy a number of activities at the bay including an inflatable obstacle course, a floating pontoon and beduion beds as well as 2 splash pools and a splash pool with slides for kids.

5.00Very nice place to spend a few hours - amazing design, beautiful views and a lot of activies to do. Shoutout to Nana Oyl when we did the guided tour today. She had a lot of knowledge, she was pacient and sooooo funny. Definetely recommend. Nana oyl, hugs and kisses from the Romania group of June 3rd.
Nice place, sensibly priced. A nice tribute to Robin Williams too.

5.00This place has a charm of its own. No special effects, not much razzle dazzle, but some creative touches and family fun. Get here for opening time to be greeted by the cast of actors who are friendly and get the kids in the mood. My children knew nothing of popeye at the start of the day and finished it fully converted and convinced spinach would cure all of life's ills. There are some fun puzzles and a couples of pools to cool down in. Food was decent in the restaurant though is pizza, burgers, and salads. Soft play costs extra and only open at weekends in May. The pricing is sensible and so long as you're not expecting a full on theme park you won't be disappointed. Half a day is about right unless you want to enjoy the beach and water sports areas. Easy to get to 101 bus from the ferry terminal.

5.00We had the best day here with the family! Loads to do, such a good atmosphere with the staff in characters and the shows they put on. Food was really good at the first bar, and interesting to walk round the film set. Great for adults and kids! We spent the whole day there! Excellent value for money! We visited on a Monday, so it wasn’t too busy.

5.00We took the bolt taxi to the village. It was very interesting to see the various sets where the film was made. Some of the staff were putting on shows during the day. Overall an enjoyable day out.
Amazing tour guide at Popeye Village- Cannot be missed!

5.00Absolute amazing time Swimming in the water was great, super clear tho be warned about jelly fish.. they hurt just a little. Took part in the film as one of the “actors” the male director we had was brilliant at his job, was a absolute laugh, seeing it in the cinema aswell had me in stitches what an amazing experience, the lady who does the marriage certificates was so sweet, loved her, great experience overall plenty to do great for everyone

5.00Popeye Village is a short excursion in Malta that is funny, quirky and fairly enjoyable, especially with children. It is unlikely that many children today know much about Popeye, let alone the 1980 film, but Robin Williams may still ring a bell, and children are usually quite happy to invent their own version of events as they go along. The village was built as the film set for the 1980 musical Popeye, shot in Malta and starring Robin Williams. The set was constructed in Anchor Bay during the last seven months of 1979, and the original structures, including the pub, Popeye’s house and the rest of Sweethaven, have been preserved and probably embellished a little for tourists. That is no bad thing. The result is odd, colourful and rather charming. The location is a major part of the appeal. The small cove and clear blue waters make it worth visiting if you have time to spare in Malta. Any Uber or Bolt taxi will get you there, no need to buy an expensive organised tour. There are live show sections, role plays and even a small theatre, which all make the visit more interesting than simply wandering through old wooden houses. Of course, it would be ideal to watch the movie before going. I was surprised the organisers were not selling cheap DVDs of it, as that would have been the most obvious souvenir of all.

4.00It's such a charming place to visit, you can go into each house and see stuff from either the movie or Popeye collection. You also get vouchers for a free postcard and popcorn for the cinema room. There are also water activities for you to do so bring a swimsuit or you can relax on the beds they have available. The staff characters were so funny and chatting with the crowd to get people involved with dancing or games
