What To Expect
Popeye Village Malta
'Popeye Village Malta', is the Original Film Set of the 1980 Paramount Production Musical “Popeye”, also known as 'Popeye Village'. The film set was constructed in Anchor Bay during the last 7 months of 1979. Popeye Village is open all year round and people can enjoy Guided Tour in English related to the film set, Meet Popeye and the Gang, become a movie star during a filming experience, enjoy Animation Activities, Silver smith demonstrations, a Comic and Memorabilia museum, a Cinema showing a documentary and get Free Popcorn once you are in there and Postcard and enjoy a round of Mini-Golf at the upper complex. One can also participate in a Scavenger Hunt to find the missing jewel. In summer, one can also enjoy a number of activities at the bay including an inflatable obstacle course, a floating pontoon and beduion beds as well as 2 splash pools and a splash pool with slides for kids.

4.00Although the Popeye film is one of the worst films I’ve ever seen I wanted to give the film set a go and I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised. Having gone in with extremely low expectations we actually found we had a really enjoyable morning. As you can imagine the actors on set are quite corny but we found it quite funny. There are a few activities for kids, mini golf and a park although these weren’t up to much. The set is in a beautiful location and has a number of bars with stunning views. We enjoyed walking around the little wooden buildings, which has various bits you can climb up (again views) and photo opportunities. A quirky and endearing tourist attraction which is reasonable priced, is a nice spacer between more serious historical/religious attractions.

5.00A lovely trip down my childhood with a visit to popeye village ,was a lovely sunny day ,got to go into all the building too see, lots of staff dressed as various characters from the movie/comics brought me back years.just a lovely day.

5.00We are a couple in our mid 50s and we've just spent the morning in Popeye Village. We were giggling the whole way round and playing all the games, dancing on the film set and enjoying being a kid again for a couple of hours. The views are amazing and the staff are super friendly and lots of opportunity for photos with the characters. We thought it was a lovely way to spend a morning and if you are visiting from Mellieha and want a break from the busses the walk there is only about a mile through some stunning countryside. Popeye Village is great fun 😁

3.00Popeye world is for young kids ONLY. Very tired looking, characters are unrealistic and the set, which is now over 30 years old us very tired looking and needs a refresh and recamp . Wouldn't recommend a visit!
