This was by far the best tour we did in Prague. So interesting, away from the hoards and we learnt about the literature of Prague and those who created it.

If you're interested in history this is the tour you need. A tour portraying Prague's history from the middle Middle ages till now, with interesting anecdotes and stories. I hear the content of the tour may change from time to time, but when I got on the walk the last stop where the tour ended was a beautiful spot with a great view on the river and the national theater, so that's a plus. Also the tour is very personal and not like those standard corporate city tours.

I went on the Prague Literary and Historical tour yesterday, and I had an absolute blast!! I have been living here for over a year, and passing many of the locations we saw without realizing their significance! The tour was a 3-hour walking tour, and took us around the New Town and Old Town of Prague. In terms of walking, the walk is mostly flat, and done leisurely. I'm not an athletic person, and I did not feel rushed or tired while doing it. The different stops were far apart enough to take us through different parts of both the New Town and Old Town, but also were close enough that we didn't spend a lot of time just walking. The content of the tour itself is what sets is apart! It covers the different defenestration incidents that happened in Prague over the centuries (it's seems to be a very popular way to get rid of people who irk you), different literary figures such as Mácha, Hrabal, and Kundera, alchemists and fake alchemists, the first girl's school in Prague and some of its notable attendees like Milena Jesenská, and more recent events like the assassination of Heydrich and its aftermath. The tour guide, Fergus, is very personable, and a skilled and knowledgeable storyteller! The people on the tour were all from different backgrounds and places, and he managed to keep us engaged! I would definitely consider going on this tour again (as in, any time I have visitors coming over)!
