Join us on a unique experience! Winter weather may seem intimidating, but our guides provide the safety to enjoy the winter landscape of Fjord-Norway.
After pick up in Stavanger and a 45-minute drive to Preikestolen Basecamp, you’ll get a briefing and a chance to prepare before starting the adventure!
Reaching the top typically takes about 2.5 hours, depending on group & conditions. The sensible pace includes time for clothing adjustments, rest & photo breaks. If conditions allow, the guide may lead you to hidden viewpoints along the way.
If the weather cooperates, you’ll enjoy sweeping views from this ice-age formation rising 604 meters above the fjord. After a snack & hot drink, we begin the approximately two-hour descent to a hot lunch.
Because snow and ice are common from January to March, hiking without a guide is not recommended. Our professional guides are trained for winter navigation and carry all necessary safety, first-aid, and winter-specific equipment.

Great tour ! The guide, Erlend, is very friendly and professional. He introduced some interesting tips and knowledge along the trail, and he also took lots of photos of us. In winter, there are few people hiking to the Preikestolen, yet it is more fascinating to hike. Last, the dog of the guide, Balder, is so cute!! Highly recommend to hike with him.

Erlend is the most amazing guide - he made everyone feel safe during the hike, showed us the best spots on the way and even made fantastic photos of us along the way. We also enjoyed the trip together with his dog Balder which made the experience even more fun and enjoyable. I loved every minute of this trip and I would recommend it to everyone 😍

The hike was really good. Brilliant! I just keep thinking how glad I am that I decided to do it. I was worried about my fitness because i have not been that active, lately, but the hike was hard work but also not overly challenging for me. Our guide was kind, informative and watched out for the group. The lunch was sensational. With really delicious vegetarian option.

We had a great trip to Preikestolen, we were a small group and lucky with the weather, the Route was very beautiful and the hike was nice, there were only few other hikers and some icy surfaces but the guide helped us navigate and we got to use crampons. Afterwards we got to eat a delicious hot tomato soup in a small shop in the area. I can recommend doing this trip with a guide if you are not used to hike in Norway. Our guide was fun and knowledgeable and it was nice to share this hike with our fellow travelers. Takk for turen

This winter walk to Preikestolen with Fjord Hikes was an excellent and memorable experience. Snowfall for much of the walk and clear views over the Lysefjord and surrounding mountain ranges made the walk especially atmospheric and peaceful. Crampons were provided, and I was able to borrow walking boots. As the only participant on the day, the hike became a highly personalised experience with two guides, Stephan and Sean, who were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. As a solo traveller, I felt well supported and welcomed throughout.I was particularly impressed that the tour still ran despite only one booking, reflecting their strong commitment to providing quality experiences. Overall, this was a well-organised and rewarding winter walk, and I would highly recommend Fjord Hikes.
