Reversing Falls Rapids
A unique phenomenon created by the collision of the Bay of Fundy and the Saint John River. At low tide the river empties into the bay causing a series of rapids and whirlpools. As tides rise they slow the river current for a brief period called slack tide. The Bay's tides continue to rise, gradually reversing the flow of the river; rapids form again, peaking at high tide. A 8.5-metre (28-foot) tide cycle is roughly 12.5 hours.
Moosehead Breweries
Moosehead Brewery in Saint John, New Brunswick, is Canada’s oldest independent brewery, founded in 1867 by Susannah Oland. Originally named the Army and Navy Brewery, it was renamed S. Oland, Sons and Company in 1870 and later became Moosehead Breweries Limited in 1931. Key milestones include: 1867: Establishment by Susannah Oland. 1917: Rebuilt after a devastating fire. 1970s: Expansion into the U.S. market. Still family-owned, Moosehead Brewery is a cornerstone of Saint John’s heritage, offering tours that highlight its rich history and brewing traditions.

Very disappointing. A 1 score may be a bit harsh, but no one reads the 2 or 3 ratings and future travelers (and Viator) need to be aware of a risk. Here is the full story. The tour failed to deliver on many levels, but we made the best of it. Booked the tour weeks before for a 1:00 start. For reasons not clearly (or perhaps truthfully) explained, almost everything failed. - Instead of a bus tour, we ended up in a taxi. He tried to pass it of as an upgrade to their luxury vehicle. We were mostly crammed in just a taxi where we couldn’t see the scenery. - it seems the tour operator called his friend Amir at the last minute to come drive us around. There were only 4 of us that tour. Seems like the tour company offered more start times than they could support. - The tour operator assured us his friend would speak english and would give us a good tour. Poor Amir didn’t have a clue of what he was called to do. - Amir speaks French and almost no english. He didn’t understand any of our questions and was not able to provide any commentary on the sites or area. Not Amir's fault. - Amir took us to about half of the sites listed on the itinerary. We were supposed to see the reversing falls twice so we could see the river flowing both ways. We only got one visit. - The tour was listed as a 6 hour tour to assure plenty of time for the caves, photos, food stops, and exploring. When we got in the taxi with Amir, the tour operator (I have forgotten his name) told Amir to make sure we were back at 5... or just 4 hours. We were hurried along. Feeling totally cheated, we still tried to make the best of each stop. It was never explained why we needed to be back, but I suspect it was to minimize the hours on the taxi rate. - Further impacting the rush was a flat tire. I acknowledge the tour can't predict that, but the time should be extend to compensate. Neither couple on the excursion was pressed for time, our cruise ships didnt leave till after 9pm or the next day. - At one of the stops, the other lady traveling with us encountered the tour operator that originally greeted us at the beginning. He was guiding another tour. She explained how bad our experience was to that point, and asked for some compensation or alternative to what were were experiencing... he didn't have a good solution.... offered to meet us for dinner, but I think we were afraid it would be a continuation of a bad experience. - When we got back to the drop point, the driver asked us who was paying????? - And, the only included amenity (a bottle of water) was not even provided 😀. Perhaps today was an anomaly, but I'm also disappointed and question if Viator properly screened the listing. The only compensating factor was the other couple on the trip. They were great!!! We made new friends as we commiserated our joint misfortune. Your experience may be different. I left Saint Johns without the experience I paid for. I have booked many trips with Viator, but this was one of two very disappointing on our Fall Foliage Cruise.

We saw among other things, the reverse fall both ways (water going from St. John River to Bay of Fundy and vice versa). Amazing St Martins caves in low tide.

This tour was ideal for our family. Haidery greeted us right at the port with a warm welcome and made the whole experience so easy and enjoyable. We explored the best of Saint John, seeing its top highlights, before heading to Saint Martin. The scenic drive and the stunning sea caves were unforgettable. Haidery’s knowledge and friendly personality made it perfect for our family. Highly recommend this tour to anyone arriving by cruise!
