Pick up from the hotel at 0700hrs, then drive to Maasai Mara through the Great Rift Valley and Narok Town. This natural massive trench from any viewpoint is simply mind-boggling, as the sky seems closer atop either side of the ridge and the thought that it runs all the way across Africa, reaching Mozambique and the Middle Eastern countries of Jordan and Lebanon.

Mara River
Maasai Mara tour is rich with wildlife and has an interesting land topography also rich with culture from the Maasai tribe which has lived in this area for more than a century. It is one of the most visited national parks because people can experience the famous wildebeest migration, which is a ‘world wonder’. The excitement is the hurdles they face along the way. Lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, wild dogs, and jackals prey on them over land and as they cross the Mara river, crocodiles lie in wait. There is plenty of action at every turn. People come from far and wide to witness this spectacle. The national park has amazing grasslands and the Siria escarpment, which is a beautiful plateau. The Maasai Mara also has the big cats among other wild animals

The hotel was amazing and budget friendly. It was also last minute and Rebecca of Killian Travel was able to get my family a great deal.

(Note: Given that we were looking for a 7D6N All Safari tour, Kilian expanded our trip to include Amboseli National Park - which we highly recommend if you want to see the animals up close!) We got to know about Kilian from our friend in Kenya, who found Kilian to be the most responsive tour agency. Immediately, we were connected to Joy, who was responsive, transparent, and accommodative to our needs: [a] After hearing that we were looking for a 7D6N tour that is exclusively safari, Joy crafted a tour to cater to our needs. She was also kind enough to switch the order of the parks to adjust for our earlier flight departure time. [b] When the package itinerary was crafted, we were pleased that Joy stated clearly what was/was not included in the package (no hidden fees!). She was also very honest in answering any questions we had (including estimated tipping amounts etc). [c] Responses were quick and prompt - Joy always got back to us within 24-36 hours. A day prior to the start of our tour, our driver-guide Daniel, connected with us via WhatsApp to confirm timing and location of pickup. We sincerely believe that your driver guide can make or break your tour, given that: [a] He/she is your driver. A good driver will save you time traveling across parks, leaving more time for game drives within the parks. In addition, an experienced driver will also navigate rough terrains better, which means less chance of your vehicle getting stuck in the mud! [b] He/she is your guide, entertaining you and answering any questions you might have about Kenyan culture and wildlife facts. [c] He/she is your spotter and needs to be able to spot animals from afar to know where to drive you to. [d] He/she is your caretaker, making sure that you have everything you need, including filling up drinking water and keeping track of your items and valuables. Having decades of experience under his belt, we were extremely glad to have Daniel! As a driver, Daniel was amazing and he was able to navigate the rough terrain without being stuck even once. He also took the time to get to know us and catered the tour to our interests. For example, when Daniel found out that my wife was interested in bird-watching, he would take us to see them. AND thanks to his experienced eye, we were able to catch all the Big Five up close! Overall, we really enjoyed the trip very much. Before our travels, we were looking for a trip where we could immerse ourselves in the wildlife without much hassle. Joy, Daniel and Kilian has exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend their services if you are interested in seeing the majestic safaris!

We had a wonderful safari experience with Kilian Tours. Our guide, Yasin, deserves a special credit for making the experience seamless. He was extremely knowledgeable about animals, birds, and vegetation in the parks. He accommodated our preferences and needs, and he is fun and easygoing. I can’t recommend this tour enough!
