The great migration is the world's second longest overland migration. The complete migration route is around 800 km (500 mi). South of this migration route covers the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where around half a million wildebeest are born between January and March. By March, at the beginning of the dry season, roughly 1.5 million wildebeest and 250,000 zebras start to migrate north towards Maasai Mara in Kenya. Common eland, plains zebra, and Thomson's gazelle join the wildebeest. In April and May, the migrating herds pass through the Western Corridor. To get to the Maasai Mara, the herds have to cross the Grumet and Mara Rivers, where around 3,000 crocodiles lie in wait. For every wildebeest captured by the crocodiles, 50 drown. When the dry season ends in late October, the migrating herds start to head back south. Around 250,000 wildebeests and 30,000 plains zebras die annually from drowning, predation, exhaustion, thirst, or disease

Our safari with Brown Parrot Safaris in Tanzania was amazing from start to finish! Everything was perfectly organized – comfortable lodges, smooth transportation and a setup that allowed us to truly enjoy every moment. We visited Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara, and each park offered something unique and magical. But what really made the experience unforgettable was our incredible guide. His vast knowledge of wildlife, calm and friendly manners, and his almost magical ability to always be in the right place at the right time made all the difference. Thanks to his keen eyes and experience, we were able to see the animals in a natural, respectful and genuine way — without stress or crowding. His professionalism and security allowed us to sit back and just enjoy. Thanks to him, we experienced an incredible amount of animals during our days on the savannah: Predators: Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Spotted Hyena, Jackal, Serval and Meerkat Big herbivores. Elephant, Rhinoceros, Buffalo, Giraffe, Hippo, Zebra and Wildebeest -Antilopes & grass eaters: Impala, Grant’s Gazelle, Thomson’s Gazelle, Eland, Dik-dik, Topi, Hartebeest and Warthog - Primates: Baboon, Green minnow and Blue minnow - Reptiles & amphibians: Crocodile and Agama lizard - Birds: Ostrich, Crown Crane, Flamingo, Pelican, Secretary Bird, Horned Bird, Kingfisher and Eagle Seeing so many species in a single trip was far beyond our expectations – a clear testament to how skilled and experienced our guide is. This was an experience of a lifetime that we will carry with us forever. We highly recommend Brown Parrot Safaris to anyone who wants to experience a genuine, well-organised and memorable safari in Tanzania. We will definitely be back!

I can recommend Brown Parrot Safaris without reservation. Doris planned the trip and the overnight stays in the well-chosen camps perfectly and Amani is not only a guide with extensive knowledge of the animal and plant world, but also a great conversation partner when it comes to history and culture. His extremely friendly nature and level-headed manner also make him the perfect driver. Unlike some employed drivers, he takes great care of the vehicle and passengers and always drives safely and with foresight. Brown Parrot Safaris is worth every single dollar and I would choose this small but excellent safari operator again for my next safari. Wolfgang, Switzerland
