Wow. What a day to remember!! Kathy was my personal tour guide who picked me up from my hotel and provided her expertise and knowledge to show me around her city of Quito. It was an excellent way to see and experience some of the historical and tourist spots within the city. I learnt so much about the history here, culture and food just to name a few things. We even managed to fit in some chocolate tasting as well. Kathy was great company, and was considerate of how I was feeling after arriving the day before so tailored some elements for me and also she was an excellent photographer too. Mucho Gracias x

I engaged Viator to provide my wife and me with their best tour guide for a private all day tour of Quito, and they delivered with Pato (Patricio A) of Ecuador a Color. We will gladly use him again if we return and highly recommend him as a guide for Quito and the nearby vicinity. On an international scale Pato was at the top level of private tour guides we have had, including 5 weeks of touring in New Zealand and Australia earlier in the year. All of the expectations for a great private guide were amply met: engaging, excellent language skills (for us that meant English), comfortable transportation, and a love of his native city and country. Pato was also friendly, and eager to share his deep knowledge of Quito. He was able to adapt to a later than planned start time because of our late arrival the night before, and flexible in planning the highlights of our day with us. Our experience of the city was enhanced by Pato’s ability to guide us around the principal historic and cultural sights while also showing us an authentic local market and letting us experience some Ecuadoran fruits we didn’t even know existed. Pato arranged lunch for us at La Vid, a beautiful restaurant, with an open window table view of the Monument to Independence in the Grande Plaza. Our experience of the city and visit to the equator were made more memorable because of Pato.

Kathy looked after us so well on our full day tour of Quito. We went to so many sites and Kathy explained about each one and then in between as she drove us we learnt about the history of the country and what life is like in Ecuador

We were very disappointed with our tour. Let me start by saying we are in the tourism business and travel a lot. We understand things happen, however, the Teleferico was closed for repair and the tour operator did not tell us until after we had been charged on the 8th (it was closed the 6th to the 13th so he knew). We did not appreciate the change in the plan being communicated the day AFTER we were charged. They knew the Teleferico was closed for maintenance at that point. I would have liked to choose another tour, like Cotopaxi. When we were notified we were TOLD what the changes would be without any options of choosing something more appropriate. We did not need to learn about fruits and vegetables or go to a cloud forest. Our guide took us to Pululahua Nature Reserve (which he said is always clouded in), why? We spent 5 minutes there. Even if it was clear we would NOT have chosen this either. The best part of the day was when someone else gave us a tour at the "middle of the world". Our tour guide was nice but talked way too much. He even planned to join us for lunch so we cut the tour short. What we paid for and what we got were just way too different.
