What To Expect
The Citadella is the fortification located upon the top of Gellért Hill in Budapest, Hungary. Citadella is the Hungarian word for citadel, a kind of fortress. The word is exclusively used by other languages to refer to the Gellért Hill citadel which occupies a place which held strategic importance in Budapest's military history. We also find the Liberation Monument atop the fortress, a dramatic statue that commemorates those who sacrificed their lives for the independence of Hungary. 5.00Jonberg was great! Knowledgeable , courteous and fun. Took us everywhere in Buda and Pest, it was a bit chilli but he had comfy, plush blankets, if you want to have a private experience and see everything is the right tour.

He was very personable & thoughtful as far as having water, blankets, umbrellas at the ready so we had nothing to worry about and could simply enjoy ride & the history. 5.00Jon, a native of Budapest, picked us up promptly from out hotel and proceeded to give us a personal 3 hour tour of the entire tourist section of town. He was an excellent driver with a degree in history. He had studied in the UK and his English was easy to understand. He patiently answered all of our questions on historical, social, political, and architectural issues in Budapest and Hungary in general. As a bonus he directed us to the type of restaurant and eating experiences we were hoping to find. This tour allowed us to see so much in the three hours and we are now able to concentrate our limited time in Budapest on the locations of greatest interest to us instead of rushing around trying not to miss anything. Money well spent.
