• Excellent Juneyao business flight from Shanghai to Brussels

  For my return from Shanghai, I had to unexpectedly change my flight end destination from Seattle to Brussels. With only a few days before flying, this was the least expensive trip available. It was also the only direct one and the shortest one. I had never heard of Juneyao and was a little apprehensive. However, the experience was awesome. First, unlike any Western airlines, Juneyao can fly over Russia which shortens the trip by a couple hours and saves on fuel (cost). I was surprised to see that their business class had only 7 seats occupied out of roughly 28 available. The service was on par or above compared to other airlines. Their English was really good (much better than my Mandarin ;-) and they did everything in their power to provide me with a comfortable flight. The restrooms were good size and very clean during the flight, and the flight attendants would check them quickly and hold the door open for me when I showed up. The slippers they provided were comfy and actually fit. I have never had that on any airline or hotel! The (western) food was good, the seating/sleeping pod comfortable with intuitive controls, and the movie selection decent. They also offered Chinese movies with English subtitles. I watched a movie that was set during the Korean war. The movie will not win any Oscars, but I found it 'refreshing' to hear that story told from the Chinese side. The only draw back of this flight was the departure time (1:30am) and arival time (6:30am) but that is less of an issue with sleeping pods. Actually, the departure time made getting to the Shanghai Pudong airport (terminal 2) from Suzhou quite a bit easier because traffic was very light.
