9:00 AM — Departure from Beirut Your driver picks you up from your Beirut hotel and heads north along the coastal highway — Byblos is 45 minutes away and best visited in the morning before the day warms up and the crowds arrive.
Byblos Castle
Byblos Castle & archaeological site — 7,000 years in one place Arrive in Byblos — one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth — and walk straight into 7,000 years of history. The 12th-century Crusader castle was built from recycled Phoenician and Roman stones — civilisations literally stacked on top of each other, visible in the walls if you know what to look for. Inside, Neolithic foundations from 5000 BC, Bronze Age temples, Phoenician royal tombs, and Roman streets all unfold in a single archaeological site. Byblos gave the world its alphabet. Its name gave us the word Bible. Your driver knows the stories behind the stones and shares them as you explore at your own pace.
