Akrotiri Archaeological Site

Step back nearly 4,000 years of ancient Akrotiri on Santorini. Explore the well-preserved ruins of this one-time Minoan settlement, destroyed by a volcano in around 1450 BC. Inspect the excavated houses and buildings, see the remnants of kitchens and drainage systems, and read about the vivid frescoes that once graced the walls. Learn about the long-ago inhabitants, how their town was buried under ash, and how Minoan society and culture was far ahead of mainland European civilization at the time. Akrotiri, buried under volcanic ash in around 1450 BC. Walk along the main street. Past ruins of shops and houses, some once painted in colorful frescoes. Learn about life here nearly 4,000 years ago. Tour guide is with extra charge. Ask for the price.

    Christos was a great driver and guide. We left the tour up to him and he did not disappoint. He took us to all of Santorini’s highlights, and took all of our pictures without hesitation. I was traveling with my grandma who has walking difficulties however Christos was very patient, kind and considerate. We got a good grasp of the story behind each place and were able to beat the crowds as Christos planned our tour perfectly. 10/10 would recommend.

    We had a private, 3 hour tour of Santorini with Thanos. It was a wonderful tour. We saw the Red Beach, drank delicious wines at Santos Winery, saw many more beautiful sights and took beautiful pictures. Thanos is extremely knowledgeable and very kind. We had a terrific day. Do not hesitate booking with Thanos. He drove us directly to the airport for our flight and gave us some of his delicious honey. Thank you for a beautiful day!
