• Incredibly beautiful day trip!

  Our driver Yiannis picked us up on time in the morning and provided us with interesting information about the area on the way to Meteora. He drove us to viewpoints and the monasteries, gave us as much time as we wanted and told us again and again about the monasteries and history. In the end he reserved a place for us in a traditional tavern, which was also excellent. If you are aware of the long journey time, the excursion is perfect all around and highly recommended! If you are in Thessaloniki, you should definitely take the time and go to Meteora, it is really very impressive and unique. And Yiannis did it perfectly all around.

  Worth the drive for a day trip from Thessaloniki!!! Spectacular natural beauty. The private tour made everything very convenient. Our tour guide, Yannis, was knowledgeable and took us to great local places along the way for coffee and lunch.

  Best excursion of our entire cruise. We were picked up at the port by Yanis, a pleasant and knowledgeable guide. It was nice to see the countryside along the drive, Yanis answered our many questions. There was a comfort stop at a lovely coffee shop along the way. The monasteries are a must see. Afterwards, we ate lunch at a local restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent! It was a long day but definitely worth it. We would highly recommend Yanis.

  The most beautiful, informative tour with George. George went above and beyond. He was knowledgeable and never made you feel rushed. This was my best tour for my 11 day cruise in Greece. Thankyou !

  Yanni arrived to pick us up on time from the appt where we were staying. It’s about a 3 hr drive to Meteora. We stopped at “ Travel Stop at the Top” for a coffee break.Yanni has done this trip a number of times & is quite knowledgeable about Thessaloniki & surrounding area. Sights around Meteora are spectacular. Unfortunately we got to the monastery at the same time as several tour buses & ot was quite crowded in the monastery. This was more than made up for by the restaurant “ Elias Garden”where he took us to eat. Reasonably priced with great food. It’s a long day but well worth the trip.

  Our day trip to Meteora with Yannis was truly spectacular! The drive is long, but so worth it! Yannis picked us up directly from the port and I voiced the concern many cruise passengers have — will we make it back in time before our cruise leaves? I shouldn’t have worried, Yannis had us back with plenty of time to spare! We really wanted to focus on seeing as many monasteries in Meteora as possible, and Yannis tailored our trip to allow just that, giving us plenty of information about the area along the way. He handled the winding, mountainous roads with ease and we were able to stop at three different gorgeous monasteries (which is a lot considering the hikes you take to get there — make sure you wear appropriate shoes!). We were also able to see the caves where the monks used to live as hermits. Yannis took several family photos of us at the best and most picturesque photo stops. Despite the time constraint set by our cruise ship, we never felt rushed, and Yannis’s relaxed and easy going nature helped make for a day we will forever appreciate and remember! We won’t hesitate to book another tour with him next time we are in Thessaloniki. Thank you, Yannis!

  Our guide Yiannis was fantastic. He knew the history of everywhere we went through (modern and historic) but more importantly very practical and catered to our interests. We did a day trip to Meteora from Thessaloniki to see the monasteries. He took us to that the right places including monasteries , the caves below, a picture perfect cliff side view of multiple monasteries, a killer restaurant ( everything we ate and the staff were as good as it gets), and a cute roadside stop for a break, bathroom and snacks. It is one thing to get a killer guide, it is another to get a wonderful conversationalist in the car with you. You are spending the day with a stranger and it did not feel that way with Yiannis. We have booked private tours like this in quite a few countries and this was by far the best! Book Viator and request Yiannis with no hesitation.

  Yanis, our driver and guide, was perfect. We wanted a private tour because we wanted to decide for ourselves where we wanted to go and how much time we wanted to spend at each spot. He was very accommodating. He also know a great rest. Stop for us and a delicious incredible place for lunch. Everybody knew him and we felt like special friends whoever have arrived. But more than that, he’s a great conversationalist… And we learned a lot about the politics and laws of Greece. Very lovely day. The time flew by.
