Szentendre
Szentendre is a Mediterranean gem in the Danube Bend with a beautiful promenade next to the river and a nice pedestrian old town-center full of handicraft shops, cafés and restaurant. The place is full of history and art.
Visegradi Fellegvar
The Beautiful medieval Citadel is impressively looking down onto the Danube Bend. This castle was the favourite residency of Hungarian Kings from medieval times. Travellers can find a unique medieval experience here, an astonishing view and also an interesting museum. Admission is included. In the Winter time the castle and the panoramic terrace is open biz the innercastle exhibitions are closed, only open on Friday-Saturday-Sunday. dec. 01. - dec 23. Friday, Saturday. 3.00It's worth spending one day to this area. But the planning was a bit rush and we thought we should have more time to walk around the area and visited some shops, less flexible than we thought for a private tour arrangement. It is not actually too difficult to visit by public transport so it might be a better choice to visit on your own, enjoy the cafe and enjoy your own time.

1.00I'm fairly certain this would have been a nice excursion but I need to share our experience to create awareness for anyone that may want to make reservations for this. We had the extremely unfortunate experience of getting cancelled by Richard, the tour guide, at the very last minute. There was no warning and no reason provided, just that he had tried to contact us a day or so prior to the excursion to see if we could shift to another day. I had done everything right - reserved the excursion 6 weeks in advance and then paid in full 9 days in advance. I checked my reservation prior to our 2 long days of travel and everything was still fine with the reservation. Again, I'm sure the scenery and locations are beautiful, I just cannot recommend signing up for this one with Richard and Explore Hungary. There are other options for exploring Szentendre and the Visegrad Castle.
