This half-day is dedicated to one of the havens of Madeira, the gardens! We partnered with Monte Palace Garden and Botanical Garden of Madeira to show you this beauty. The first stop is at Monte Palace Tropical Garden, which impresses with its beauty, diversity of culture, as well as, traces of the history of Portugal since the reign of D. Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal. The Monte Palace Madeira occupies an area of 70.000 square meters and houses a huge exotic plant’s collection, coming from all over the world, together with swans and duck’s, that populates the central lake, peacocks and chickens, that walk free in the main areas of the property.
The tour ends in the botanical garden, founded in 1960 by a Madeiran Botanical, here we can find more than 2500 species of plants, from different parts in the world all brought together in the Garden of the Atlantic.

Monte Palace Madeira

5.00I selected the private guided tour to be able to see the gardens at our speed. Marco was the guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the gardens, Madeira and Portugal. Marco knew the different plant species and origins and frequently asked us learning questions to get us to think about how to relate them to our experiences. He would give us information about the trail ahead to help us decide which pathway to take. My friend was using a walker and I had a cane. I wanted to spend the majority of our time in Jardim Monte Palace. He was flexible with our agenda and scheduling requests. He’s highly personable and professional. I would grade him with a A+. I highly recommend this tour guide and tour package.

5.00The gardens are very nice. Monte Palace gardens are almost magical. Our guide walked us thru both gardens and talked about the plants and trees. He went over some history and made the day a wonderful experience.

5.00Worked very smoothly with the transports. The guide was nice and knowledgeable even if other than the gardens. An interesting tour of two fantastic garden facilities. Nice Service that the guide also took photos that we then got.

5.00We had a great tour of the Botanical and Monte Palace Gardens. Richard was, as usual, highly informative and his commentary really added to the experience. He took photos (which are a lovely record of the experience) and could not have been more helpful. Like other reviewers, I would say its worth booking ahead - we only had a choice of two dates because we booked rather late, although luckily these days worked for us.

5.00Richard gave us an excellent tour of the Botanical and Monte Palace gardens. We enjoyed listening to his knowledge of the gardens as we walked around them and his company. He also took some wonderful photos of us and the gardens and sent them to me after the tour. When we return to Maderia we will use this company for private tours again. We did not feel rushed and were well looked after. I recommend you book before coming out to Maderia as other tourists we met were finding all tours book up quickly as lots of visitors the week we visited.

5.00The Botanical Garden ENGR Rui Vieira is very beautiful, provides a variety of planatas and aromas. But the Monte Palace Tropical Garden is spectacular, combines oriental culture with western, blends nature with typical oriental construction, the beautiful bridges with the mixture of waterfalls, is fabulous, very good for romantic tours and nature. The Service also has photographs from the guide which is later made available electronically to those who require this Service, excellent for photographs of couples / families without worrying about the photographs.
