We had an amazing time!! My husband is a marathon and ultra marathoner as well as history buff. Our guide, Periklis, was wonderful!! He arrived early to meet us, his car was clean and very nice. Periklis gave us great information and tailored the time to our likes. All the stops are worth the time and Periklis was so enthusiastic and we loved his passion for Greece and all the history he knows. Great conversations during our whole time. Highly recommend!! Great value for the price!!

We had a wonderful tour with Giorgos from Athens to Marathon. His car was clean and spacious and his driving was excellent. He provided a great narrative during our tour covering Greek history, the Marathon battle, and the marathon running race. He was very personable and also shared with us stories about his family providing a personal touch. He tailored our tour around our interests. As a marathoner, particularly enjoyed the marathon start line, driving along the marathon route, and the finish stadium. Definitely a highlight of our Greek trip! I would highly recommend a tour with Giorgos!

My husband was particularly excited to take this tour since he is a marathon runner, and our guide, Dimitrios, really gave us a great overview of the roots of the marathon. He was very friendly and had some fun stories of the history as we moved to different stops on the trip. (He also recommended my new favorite pastry, bougatsa.) You see both the start of the Athens marathon and the end point at the stadium and follow the route along different stops. The Marathon museum was definitely worth the few euros for admission and contained a fascinating timeline of the modern marathon with many artifacts dating from the first modern Olympic marathon until about the 2000 games. The historical battle of Marathon museum was a bit overpriced, and you could see an equal number of artifacts at the National Archeological Museum in Athens instead. Lake Marathon and the Marathon Tomb were both interesting outdoor stops, as was the Greek and Egyptian temple. Because it was a private tour we could set our own pace at all the stops, which was really nice because we never felt rushed. Overall, we would highly recommend this tour of you love running or are a history buff, and we’d recommend any tour guided by Dimitrios!

This was a very fun half-day trip! Dimitris was a wonderful guide who took us to some very interesting places. I enjoyed the Marathon Museum, complete with Olympic history and some Olympic torches. It was a great, small, comprehensive museum that only cost €2 per person. The Marathon dam had beautiful views of the countryside and water. We also saw the tombs of Marathon, the archeological museum, and the battlefield before ending at the Egyptian site and oceanfront. Highly recommend!
