A remarkable archaeological site that provides a window into the ancient Roman history of Budapest. Located near the ruins of the Aquincum military camp, this ancient amphitheater once served as a center for entertainment and social gatherings during the Roman Empire. Built in the 2nd century AD, it could accommodate thousands of spectators who came to witness gladiatorial contests, theatrical performances, and other public spectacles.
Danube River
One of Europe's most iconic and historically significant waterways, winding its way through ten countries from its source in the Black Forest of Germany to its delta in the Black Sea. As it flows through Budapest, Hungary's capital, the Danube serves as a central feature, dividing the city into its distinct halves: Buda and Pest. The Óbuda food tour with Zoltán is an absolute must! This was one of the most authentic and memorable experiences we had in Budapest. Instead of joining a touristy tour in the crowded city center, we explored where the locals actually eat and it was incredible. We visited multiple restaurants, a bakery, and even a local butcher/meat market. Every stop offered fantastic food and a true glimpse into daily Hungarian life. Zoltán knew all the best hidden gems and made the experience feel like exploring with a knowledgeable local friend. Between stops, he shared fascinating stories about Óbuda’s history and culture, pointing out historical sites along the way and explaining their background in an engaging way. He also gave us an honest and insightful look into local life including the traditions, the challenges, and the everyday beauty of living in this part of Budapest. Zoltán’s warmth, humor, and storytelling made Óbuda come alive. Skip the downtown tours if you want to truly taste and experience Budapest, this tour is the one to do. Óbuda with Zoltán is pure magic

Zoltan was our guide and he was terrific with historic and current stories about Hungary as he would put it, “a small country with a big ego”. We had four tastes, excellent strudel and coffee, langos, the BEST goulash soup and ending with a hidden speak easy that served numerous cheeses, meat and sausages along with copious beers and palinkas. Loved it.

The tour was so informative and it was nice to see a different more local side of Budapest. Made accommodations for my picky daughter and she enjoyed the tour as well.

As part of a city trip to Budapest, my friends and I once again booked a food tour. Our guide was Gyorgy, who gave us interesting and entertaining hours and took us on a lovely culinary trip through “(Buda)-Pest”. It was unanimously the best food tour we have ever done. Thank you very much Gyorgy!
